Re: FIREFIGHTER'S VENT
First off...I want to say thank you for the job you do, it takes a special breed to choose a career like yours.
Secondly, thank you for posting this, is it even still legal in any state for any passengers not to wear seatbelts?
I can't for the life of me, understand how any parent can enter a freeway, drive at that speed and not do everything possible to insure the safety of their children.

Re: FIREFIGHTER'S VENT
Unfortunately, non-seatbelted kids are more normal than not. Then many drive thier vehicle as though it's a race car.
I'm surprized that someone pulling a "camper" was going that fast.

Re: FIREFIGHTER'S VENT
A bike helmet saved my sons life twice. I always made my kids and still do even though they are adults wear their seat belts. I have always been told I'm to strict Or they would be made fun of. If I ever caught them with out a helmet or even if It wasn't on correctly THEY WERE SEVER LY PUNISHED . At least a month of no bike and some other privileges taken away or had them volunteer at a place that worked with brain injuries etc... Having my son live through two accidents that he surely would have at least had sever head injuries and more likely death I always said Better they be made fun of and me be the bitchy strict mother than them be dead.
There was a state trooper that did a safety speech at GM for some of their drivers years ago, He told them a story of an accident that the little kid had gone through a windshield and died. When he asked the grieving mother why the child wasn't in the car seat her response was "I didn't want to be mean!" I NEVER FORGOT THAT STORY AND IT WAS PRIOR TO ME HAVING CHILDREN.
By the way thank you to all that serve in the military and all the first responders. I don't know how you do it.
