Bootleg
I borrowed a movie or two, I'll say from a friend of a friend of a friend.
One is a very recent Pixar release not yet available on DVD so I wondered how he managed to have his own copy.
Fired it up, the opening titles appear to be in Russian although the audio is all in English. The quality is so very poor.
I don't get it. Why is there even a market or demand for this? I don't want to be "first" to see or own a movie, they soon enough end up on DVD release and available for a dollar rental.
Never really read up on the bootleg business, I've heard they video record movies in theaters, but not sure where a movie with Russian titles and English audio is found?
So, if you know a little about bootleg, tell me about it.

A lot of them are copies that were sent to different places to be reviewed and such and got leaked. Some of them are taped from in the theater(more common) none of them are usually very good quality but some are better than others. So if it was in Russian i'd imagine it was a copy for a Russian press company of some sort, or something of the like, and then got leaked.

Yes most are poor quality but if you get a hold of a movie serener that movie reviewers get it really good.

Welcome to my world Chazzy 
OK, basically here it goes. There are lots of people in the world that are in many ways, unwilling to go to theaters for their own reasons, usually having nothing to do with financial reasons. So, to screw the system, these people download them from the internet.
It starts with the Cams, as the internet lingo is for it. A Cam is basically as it sounds, someone sneaks in a camera and records the movie. Sometimes people actually buy their tickets, but most people that do this sneak in or have friends that work in the theater sneak them in. Cams are the WORST quality of pirated video. Poor visual quality, and even worse sound as a movie theater's acoustics are unfavorable to recording devices.
The next big boost in quality is called a TS, or TeleSync. Now this is where it gets more illegal, but very difficult to catch. The projectionist of the movie theater takes an audio recorder and plugs it in directly to the projector, recording the audio as the movie plays normally. Most projectionists that do this generally don't take issue with it as the movie industry doesn't tag the audio with a means of catching the projectionist that does this. And since there usually is only one projectionist per movie theater and they're the only ones allowed in the projection room, it is very unlikely that they'll get caught. The audio for this is then taken and Synced up to the best quality video available from a cam that's up on the internet.
An offshoot of the TS is something that's called an R5, for Region 5. This happens to be the region of movies for Russia. Because of the economic state of Russia, its not too difficult to find a theater in Russia that doesn't care about people sneaking in cameras and getting what is considered the best possible video recording while using a camera. So a Russian video movie with English audio is actually a pretty common form of a TS. While the audio is perfect, the video still sucks and any parts of the movies with subtitles get lost on the viewer as the subtitles are in Russian.
This last one is rare, as there are a lot of means to catch the person that does this, a DVDrip. A DVDrip is usually a projectionist bringing a laptop into the projection room and copying the movie from the DVD (everything ships on DVD now to theaters) to the computer. Then to avoid getting caught, paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines and going to jail for up to twenty years, the projectionist modifies the video to remove a watermark that identifies him specifically, that is played throughout the entire movie. This quality of piracy is usually only available after the movie is out in theaters, but not yet out on DVD.
Basically, movie piracy in every form has its drawbacks. If you want to enjoy the movie in its full splendor, go to the theater.

I was told that if I had bothered to watch more of this movie, I would have seen people getting up and moving about the theater.
I don't like bootleg, not only because of the sad quality, but I just don't care for bootleg or counterfeit anything.
