most rock n rollers would tell you Les Paul is the standard...but in my opinion...Fender Strat or Telecaster tend to give the best sound for blues music...

Re: guitars
Make it simple, buy one of each!
Seriously though, I've never played a Les Paul or a PRS (I play a Strat), but I've played with guys who have and I personally preferred the sound of the Les Paul.

Re: guitars
i tried learning guitar a long time ago. i played a Washburn, it had decent sound, but i just never got the hang of it. i also attempted to play Bass a few different times, but have a slight hearing problem, that i can't hear the lower notes, i can hear them, but they all sound the same. i played an Ibanez, and a Charvel Surfcaster Bass, both were of decent quality.

Re: guitars
No, Ive never heard of a Greco. And I agree about the style of music you play being relevant to the instrument you choose. Guitars are the same as many other things you choose, Levi's vs Wrangler, Chevy vs Ford. I know guys that collect guitars for their value, I know guys that collect them just to show off how many they have. But its all about the sound. Its not uncommon to see Ritchie Sambora switch guitars in the middle of a song during a live concert because of the sound he wants to generate. The flip side of that are guys that stick with one and only one guitar for many years of shows. Neil Young and Willie Nelson come to mind. I saw Willie on TV the other day and his acoustic - electric Classical that he was playing (couldnt make out the brand) looked so old that it looked like it was going to turn to dust with the next strum.
I have 5, each because of the sounds the have and the purpose that they serve. My favorite is my Fender Newporter Acoustic. It has an acoustic body with a Stratocaster neck. Not an expensive guitar at all, but its easy to play and has an incredible sound. I also have a Fender Acoustic - Electric 12 string and a Fender Strat. But for playing out, I typically use 2 - An Ovation acoustic electric, which I keep tuned in D and this one stays in tune in that key better than any of the rest, and a Takamine Acoustic Electric 6 string. I bought this one a few years ago because I was playing out more and more and didnt like playing the Newporter with a pick up or a mic. When I went to buy a guitar that day, my intention was to buy a Fender Acoustic - Electric (yeah, brand loyalty!), but every Fender I tried didnt quite sound good. So I tried several others, Martin, Taylor, Ovation, Washburn etc. A Takamine wasnt even on my radar screen, but I was in a buying mood and I was running out of choices. So I picked one up and tried it and to me, it sounded and played far better than any of the rest. The on board tuner is fantastic and the equalizer gives me a wide variety of different sounds. I absolutely love this guitar - but only when its plugged in. If I'm playing unplugged, I pick up the Newporter every time.
So I guess what I'm saying (in a VERY long winded way) is that your quest to choose a Les Paul or a PRS is a personal as choosing between boxers or briefs. Its got to feel right. Play several and choose whats most comfortable for you personally.
