Re: to all smokers
My hubs considered it, some insurance companies cover it, some don't...
They all should cover it...anyone who smokes, needs to quit and it sucks that the best quitting methods are extremely expensive.
(There are some cheap cheap trial offers online)

Re: to all smokers
I got my starter kit for 59.95 which included, two units that you charge,a charger, and 5 of the filters which hold about a pack of cigarettes worth of nicotine..the unit is called the tango. after that you can purchase the filters for 100.00 for 50 filters, which again hold about a pack of cigarettes worth of nicotine,,by comparison that is extremely cheap. lookup the tango ecigarette.I am not sure if I am suppose to give out the address in the forums, let me know and I will.

Re: to all smokers
Nope, can't post any web addresses, I think you enough info for someone to google it up though, that's fine, since you are a VIP, you can offer the direct link to any one who messages you asking for it.
The prescription ones are outrageous in price, but good if your insurance plan covers it.

Re: to all smokers
I remember seeing a site where the starter kit was 10 bucks. I was looking into it for the hubs.
I remember reading that (just what I read, I haven't researched it any yet) that actually nicotine is not bad for you at all, it's just the method of ingesting it and the other cigarette additives that are so bad, nicotine in itself is not.
Hubs has tried Chantix and patches, the e-cigarette will probably be next.

Re: to all smokers
you are so very correct, real cigs are very bad because of all the additives, there are a few adds saying that the e cigarette has some harmful additives as well, but very few,and questionable at best.
I did not try the patch but I did use chantix and it almost got me there but could not push me over the edge I needed.I almost give you my word that this will do it for him, because it is so close to the real thing.I wish you and hubby all the luck.If he wants it, It will work.

Re: to all smokers
I have tried several times. It's safer for me to continue to smoke. I get too physco, they would have to reserve a prison cell if I would quit. I've tried the patch, ended up with chest pains. Thought of nicorette, but can't not chew that with ulcers. Tried acupuncture, but my temperament ended that. My Doctor accually told me that they get docked in pay for everyone that doesn't quit. He wasn't worried about that. So I just keep on smoking.

Re: to all smokers
Champix (aka varenicycline tartrate) is generally the most effective treatment for most people, so it's definitely worth a look-see (though only available through prescription, at least in Canada). The downside, however, is the price. It's DAMN expensive, but well worth it if you have a good drug plan. Lol in case you can't guess, I work in a pharmacy. Oh and the success rates with nicorette are pretty piss poor. I just like it because I can get my nicotine when I can't light up

Re: to all smokers
I broke down and bought some "Njoy" brand at a truck stop. First day but think they'll be much better than regular cigs.
The Chantex is proven to have very bad side effects so i don't care for it.
I have to get use to the extra weight of these and of course, I dropped one and freaked thinkin it was gonna burn the carpet.

Re: to all smokers
I'm trying to find a Chinese herbal cure for my nicotine addiction (aka smoking) while I am here in China.
Having said that, I've found I rarely cough when I smoke Chinese cigs (about $1 pack of 20 btw) but when I go home to Australia occasionally, and if I've run out of the carton I take back, I find that Australian made cigs not only burn faster (the chemicals in the paper) but they make me cough really badly!

Never tried that. I have done pretty well until the 6 week mark. Then all bets off. I get nuts. Sometimes all you would have to do is look at me, and swinging my arms go. With my job, that's not a good idea.

Re: to all smokers
I really believe you don't quit until you are mentally ready to do so. For me it was when I got pregnant with my oldest son. I had an incentive to quit. It was so damn hard I never picked up another cigarette. My ex did through a pack at me and said "Just smoke you bitch!" So I guess that I was a bit nuts. Not that he needed an excuse to call me that. But Being pregnant and getting nauseous when you smoke helps to get you over the edge. Besides like I said having an incentive that means enough to you helps. I never got the people that stop for 2 years then start again. I know so many that did that.Unfortunately all the treatments have some negatives but are they worse than smoking? The price alone should be an incentive to most people these days. I swore I would quit when they hit $1 now they are almost $10 here. That's $300 a month if I were still smoking. I have better use for that money. Plus its getting harder for smokers to smoke anywhere. There are people trying to pass a law in NY that no one can smoke in a multiple dwelling building even in their own apartment. They just passed no smoking on the beaches and parks . That's in addition to all the other no smoking laws they already have. NO bars, no restaurants etc..

I've used the Blu brand before and was very satisfied with it. Plus, I enjoy being able to "smoke" in areas that one usually can't smoke in and confuse people around me.

Lets see...Use Chantix and live with upset stomach, dizziness, bloated feeling, soft stool, rectal leakage discharge...or keep smoking...which will I choose?...

Re: to all smokers
I bought the, "Blu" series. The starter cost 60 bucks and comes with; 2 complete electronic cigarettes, 25 filters of various flavors, a single USB charger, a wall charger, and a cigarette pack that's its own charging station when your not around a single power source. I charge mine now maybe once a week and use the cigs about the same. The replacement filters are ordered online and cost 1 dollar each (25 for a pack of 25) I've smoked menthols for years, so it was a no-brainer, but they have other flavors like; cherry, vanilla, coffee, marlboro, and my menthol. They come in three strengths. The hard one equals 10 cigs. I started out not looking to quit, but a way for me to have a cig inside without freezing my ass off. As I smoked the thing, I realized that I didn't get jumpy as I first thought. So slowly I weaned my way off regular cigs and found health and money I didn't know I had. I have been smoke free since January 17th 2010...
(Yikes I sound like I sell the stuff... )

I got yelled at the other day by some crabby old lady who demanded that she could smell it from across the room...

Try electronic cigs. Unlike any other system, you can still smoke regular cigs right along with them. The hardest thing to get used to will be the amount of time you spend. The electronic cig takes three or four puffs to get the same nicotine amount you get from one regular cig. So they are great if your sneaking out to have one during work, cause you can go into the bathroom and emerge a minute later feeling good for awhile before the next urge. They all tell you that they aren't for quiting, just an alternative for when you can't get away. Quitting happens if you decide to use the different levels as a step down program on your own. Heck the last level doesn't even have any nicotine in it, just flavoring.
