Stupid and Gullible
I was clicking around the internet yesterday, ran across this really fun site and had such a great time reading the submissions and thought maybe it would be a bit of a hoot to copy that here in a thread.
"I use to be stupid"
There were these terrific little stories from people "confessing" to and relaying their most gullible and stupid moments. The ones about what they believed or did as a kid were really good reading.
I'll start with a few, and see if we can't kick this off..
I guess it's always hearing adults say "You can be anything you want when you grow up" made me believe just that...literally...I could be anything I wanted...so I assumed that if I wanted to grow up and be tall with long wavy blond hair,a living Barbie Doll, then I would be exactly what I wanted to be...don't know when I finally realized that I could choose to do anything in life, but I still had to be....me.

Re: Stupid and Gullible
I think being you turned out just fine babe.
I thought being anyone i wanted would be easy, then one day i realised, i liked the person i am, if no-one else did, then that would be there problem. As long as i woke up every morning healthy(ish) with a smile on my face with great friends and family around me, what else would i need

Re: Stupid and Gullible
When I was very little, (maybe it was a Mary Poppins influence?)I remember thinking if it were windy enough, and if I jumped high enough with an open umbrella I would surely be able to float through the air!
I also remember being an adult, and was mushroom hunting with some friends, when the sun started to set, one woman in our hunting party exclaimed how we had better hurry up and get what we could before the mushrooms disapeared....someone had told her when she was little that when the sun went down, mushrooms pop back down into the ground for the night....she beleived that all her life until that day.

I always look up when people say Gullible is written on the ceiling, but its more of playing along with the joke.

Well, to an extent you can be "anything" you want; you just can't be "anyone" - you have to be yourself. The earlier you realise that being yourself is best, the sooner you can start to be happy. Trying to be someone else can only make you miserable.

Re: Stupid and Gullible
Just talking about silly kid stuff, childhood stuff....I'm fine, I'm fine with who I am....thank you, I do appreciate the concern but I'm really very happy and and I'm fine.
I was just talking about stuff we use to believe in when we were very young, back when we were wide eyed, naive, impressionable, trusting, and believed in things like tooth fairy, Easter bunny, Christmas magic. It was fun being gullible, and it's fun to look back at those times.
I ran across an amusing website and thought it would be something kinda fun for us to do too.

Re: Stupid and Gullible
I had a family member that was so afraid of snakes she wouldn't go camping. So a family member told her if she tied a rope around the tent base a snake wouldn't cross it.She actually believed him and went camping making sure that rope was tied around that tent before she went to bed at night. lol

Re: Stupid and Gullible
Every year there was a big St. Patricks day parade and it was a zoo. You had to go really early to get a decent seat. So to keep the kids in bed late so they didn't have to go to the parade and deal with all the craziness my in laws used to tell the kids that every St. Patrick's day the boys would have to get their butts painted green at town hall if they wanted to go to the parade. The boys were so afraid of having to stand there in front of everyone with their pants down and have their butts painted green they would just hide in bed as late as they could get away with. I tried that on my kids for a few years but I just couldn't bring myself to keep it up for too long.
