A theory about ourselves
Implicit egotism
It's a theory that we (humans) unconsciously prefer, gravitate and select things, places and other people that resemble or remind us of ourselves.
Kinda cool.
I read about it and tried applying it to myself. Looking around at the things, places, and people I love.
Do you think you may be practicing 'implicit egotism? '
We've seen allot of people who look like their pets, close friends with similar styles and personality. I know we love new and varied things too, but maybe we do like to ground ourselves with familiar things, and nothing is more familiar to us than ourselves.
Can you think of anything where this might be true for you?
I've always loved history and antiques, and that lead to a love of carved shell antique cameos, I really don't care for jewelry but I love the cameos ...and now when I think about it, I kinda resemble the typical portrait of the ladies in the cameos.

Re: A theory about ourselves
Interesting. I think we all need that "grounded" thing. Other than that, isn't called preferences?

Re: A theory about ourselves
very interesting theory good topic and think maybe true in same cases but also look at opposites attract and even though just a saying if you look at friends and familys and even your own relationships alot of time humans are drawn to someone completley opposite in looks and in personality.
i do think that we are drawn to things and people that ground us and obviously make us feel good though but in my case this is a very diverse group of people and things

Re: A theory about ourselves
I think it's kinda true.
Larry was always my favorite stooge (The Three Stooges) and I always thought it was because something about his appearance resembled the men on my father's side of my family. (They all had a very endearing personality)
Of course I believe we are also attracted to something new, different for excitement and stimulation.

I like Larry, Daryl and Daryl too. Just not sure which Daryl I liked best.
