Bullying
There's been a lot about this on the news.
Recently a 15 year old girl killed herself because she was relentlessly harrassed. She's not the only one in the news for this recently.
I really wonder why people go to such extreames. There's those that even put rude or severely negative comments on memorial pages. WTF?
The schools don't seem to care----------
Makes me wonder if those at Columbine were subject to this before they did thier massacre.

Re: Bullying
It's so sad, I have been reading a bit on this girl.
Who knows why something like this goes extreme, or what can be done about it.
We (humans) don't have a fully developed brain till we are around 20 years old, and once the lobes are fully deveoloped, they are rather fresh and we have to start learning to use them.
I guess that's why children need boundaries, they just don't have the fully functional brain to determine actions and consequences.
Now...adults...there is no excuse really.

I know kids will be kids. There were reports of this abuse to the school by other students and the girl that killed herself. Nothing was done about it. So, that's adults for ya. It's the old "well, kids will do that" nothin' but boy cow poop. They should charge the parents as well as the kids. Last I checked the parents are still responsible for thier kids.

Re: Bullying
Look up Megan Meier. She was a 13 year old from Missouri, and her cyber bully was another young girl 's mother. Just dispicable and senseless.
I know what you mean about Columbine. I remember there was a deal about not wanting the shooter's memorialized along with the other children, it made me think "Isn't this kind of thing that really caused this whole tragic mess?"
I mean saying that a child doesn't fit with the others?
I remember a few arrogant full of themselves kids from school that taunted and harrassed a few others. The bully types I know, ended up brain dead drunks who had their children taken away from them, or something similiar....

Re: Bullying
Have to say when I'm at work and dealing with the students i am pretty good at noticing there is something more wrong and will usually get to the bottom of the problem. I make sure the student knows we deal with the issue in a way that the people involved have no idea how we know it's going on, and i promise it will stop from the minute i know. I can not abide bullies and will not tolerate it so as soon as i think there's a problem i will make sure it is stopped.

Re: Bullying
bullying is something all kids face at school i think either from being the bully or being bullied. i think now it is alot worse than in my time at school (so long ago he he )not only do the kids seem to be getting bullied in person now that nearlly all kids have cell phones and internet they seem to be getting bullied via these as well so for those who wre getting bullied there is no let up so it is not a surprise of the level of depression some face. hard to no if there is a straight foward solution ??
