Shamless self promotion
I have decided to go back to school finally. I've been accepted at my local community college(yeah). Decided on my major, Human Services. I would like to work for DCF or assist in adoptions. And here comes the kicker..........my financial aid won't pay for it. I got a whopping $400 to help pay for two semesters of school. So I have decided that instead of give up on my dreams I'm resorting to fundraising and just plain out asking for it. I'm planing a pancake breakfast, a car wash(in the shortest shorts I can get, white of course, and a white tank top) and a website just asking for a donation. So if your interested the new site is
http://www.geocities.com/ckpipes/sendamomtoschool.html
Do you think I've gone a little too far or is it ok to do whatever possible to further you life?

You should take what ever you can get, then ask for more,,,,you only go around once in life, then its all over way to soon.

I would just have to pay taxes on the money if you gave me any.
and I'll probably need $100-200K to finish my PhD work. maybe more....

Re: Shamless self promotion
The Army National Guard has an offer to pay your tuition.
One weekend a month, two full weeks a year you will be paid to honor a commitment in exchange for that benefit and others.
There are plenty of noncombat jobs you can choose to be trained at.
Ohh yes, and you were saying a few weeks back that you wanted to change your workout....................the Guard has some that you have never thought of before
BDUs aren't very flattering to a woman's figure but all the soldiers will ogle you anyway. You will have better quarters, assignments and promotions(commanders have dicks too). You will never pay for a drink or anything else............with a sweep of your magical fix-all wand called Sexual Harassment, even generals will tremble in your presence.
Now, if you wanted to train with an up-tempo unit like mine and do urban assault just like the heroes on the tv news clips, the Guard will be happy to give you your shot at it just like any other qualifying soldier.....BUT, if you feel like not putting on makeup, getting fat and laying around like Garfield, you can do that too.
For a woman, it's an easy gig for the money.

May be an easy gig, but there is always that chance of loosing your life in a senseless war deemed necessary by bureaucrates and congressmen who use us as pawns on a chess board, to satisfy their economic goals, of selfishness and power while calling it patriotism.

Government does not equal country. I serve my country and leave the politics up to the politicians.

Re: Shamless self promotion
Serving your country under false pretenses is pure foolishness, I should talk, I served in VietNam in 1967 and 1968. However foolish we are/were, I would never do it again! There is no status in dying for any reason, not even your country my friend, If I had to do it over I would take our two last presidents position and flee to Canada, or just plain dodge my so called responsibilities to the faulty Government. SORRY,,,,

Re: Shamless self promotion
I don't think the guard is an option for me. I love our wonderful country(maybe not the people in it) but I love my children more. I couldn't leave them for 2 days at a time, let alone a week. Not while they're so young yet. But thanks for the idea anyway. If I wasn't a mother I would seriously consider it. I just put in a whole bunch of job and scholarship applications. Going for some scholarships that I found on the net. Alot of competiton for those. Keep your fingers crossed.

2nd 2469u's comment,
All I got for my "scholarship searches" was a flood of calls on old debts. I NEVER got ANY scholarships out of it.

All of the free money is fake. Nobody is giving it away in Grants, free loans or in any other way.
If it sounds like unearned cash, then it is fake. The only way to find free money is to walk around with your head down in parking lots.
(of course a total babe like CG could sit with a kettle on a street corner, wearing torn and dirty jeans and a "need money to return to school" sign and probably clear $200 a day in charity)

Not a bad idea KB! Exactly which corner in Va should I be sitting on? I'll make a special rip in my jeans just for you. Bet we could pull in more than $200 that day.

Balance: $0.00 USD
Ummmm.....not very well. Its totally useless to have any kind of car wash or outside activity right now because of all the stinking rain/snow. I have taken up a job as a motel housekeeper right now. Pay sucks, tips suck, but it is helping me pay off my bills, slowly, so thats a baby step in the right direction.
Thank goodness I still have 4 months to do something other than student loans!

Things are tough round here too CG. Just keep moving ahead and don't let it all get you down. This shitty weather doesn't help matters. Let's hope when spring really gets here it all shapes up.

Re: Shamless self promotion
Curious you need to look at UPS - yes Mr Brown can help you out. They are hiring part time people and they have a building near you. You can work from like 3:30A.M to 9:00A.M Monday thru Friday and get GREAT benifits including medical, dental and vision coverage, 401K and are you ready for this College Loan Program. They wull loan you $25K that you pay back interest only while your in school. The hourly wage isn't great at $8.50 but there is a .50 cents raise in 90 days. Where else can you get Real Benifits at a part time job?

The Average package is about 35LBS. And I'm sure there are trick to help lift the bigger ones. Just think positive and give it a try

I can lift 35 pounds, and even struggle the 75 pounds up now and then.. but to do it more than once or twice a day would be more work than I want to do.

At their preformance rate of 1 box every 3 seconds, with their math, you will lift over 90,000 lbs per shift. +/- To think they pay you to workout! What a great country we live in
