Black Friday
I hear that people get trampled to death at these events... Is it really worth it? Are you going? Are you in the market for anything?
I guess it's your equivalent to our Boxing Day up here on Dec.26th the day after Xmas except there aren't any casualties (usually).

Re: Black Friday
We have a mall here that will open at 12am(midnight) I might go up and get a few things but i'm not going to be there and stand in line and get pushed and shoved so people can be the first in the door.

Re: Black Friday
Wal-Mart will remain open 24 hours this year (they usually closed for a few hours to get prepared for the madness), but after last years tragic trampling accident, they have been forced by the government to come up with a solution. so now, they will block off certain sections of the store, and people can wait in separate lines for each item on sale, vs everyone busting down the doors only to get inside and go to different departments.
i have to work at 8 am, and am not about to get up at 3am, and go wait in line...there was nothing on sale that i want anyway. i did go along with my sister about 15 years ago, K=Mart had a sale on 13" tvs, she bought three (one for each kid) i went along to help her carry them to the car and get them into the house afterward....funny? a week later, the exact same tv's were still on sale, for exactly the same price. (they were decent tv's though, i still use one as a back up.)

Re: Black Friday
You couldn't pay me to participate in this ritual. I will tell you, last year when this poor man was killed, that is all my Dad could talk about for about 4 months. My dad at 86, who thought he had seen everything. Why is it we humans are the least humane?

Re: Black Friday
Agree with former speakers, i rather pay more than to participate in this madness, although i understand when you don't have the money you will.

Re: Black Friday
there usually is nothing on sale that i can afford, or even want. in the past, i have asked my ex-mother-in-law to pick up things for me, and paid her in advance. she always got exactly what i wanted.

Re: Black Friday
I don't go to stores on days like today. If I feel the need to get someone a Christmas present, I look all year and get it when I can afford it. So what if ya pay full retail?
Frankly, this is nothing more than a discount that these places could do other times of year. So, why not do that instead?
