QUOTE and REPLY
You've may have noticed a little change in the forums.

Unf has re-arranged the forum buttons for us.

The "POST REPLY" button is now on the far right, and the "QUOTE POST" button has been moved a bit to make room for the change.

We understand that before, with the "QUOTE POST" button being the one on the farthest right of the page, next to the scroll bar, mouse and cursor...this set up made the "quote" button very easy to overuse and abuse. Often the result would be threads with a long series of "quote you quoting me quoting you quoting me quoting you..."
posts, and as you know, this would lead to a messy, difficult to follow and read, and even a dead thread.

Reading a post once is enough, no need to see it quoted 5 or more times in a row. The "Quote" button is there for us to reply specifically to a previous post several replies back on the page or even several pages back. (Just clarifying...I know most of ya'all know this stuff already. sorry to bore ya with it)

We totally understand, it's a very easy habit to pick up with the "quote" button being on the right side and the "reply" being on the far left, (it took me quite the bit of time to break myself of the habit)
Anyway, hope this will be very helpful now to have the "POST REPLY" button on the right side now.

...and thank you very much unf!

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
Something should have been done much sooner...so sorry it's taken this long.

It's been a common and constant "little annoyance" for so many here, but we understand that it's partly because of the set-up we had in the past.

We hope this new set-up will be very helpful.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
That's a VERY good thing for an illiterate like me! All too often, I've mis-spelled or mis-typed something or just generally said something that could have been mis-interpreted into something totally contrary to what I actually meant. Thank you!

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
i dont think most people are worried about misspelling, this being the internet and a relaxed forum, i'm more pleased on this note due to it being one oriented towards an more steamlined environment.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
...and as JC pointed out (in his own humorous way, you bugger you! )

After someone has typed out a post, (especially a lengthy one)...it's not necessary to quote it to reply to it...

It's no reflection on anyone really, hitting the "Quote Post" button is just a very very easy habit to pick up because of where the "Quote Post" and "Post Reply" were previously located.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
When I first started interacting online, I picked up a few bad habits, abusing the quote button here was one of them (didn't do it on other forums but it seemed so easy to do here?)

KB in her very frank, very straight forward way, let me know I sucked at forum interactions and that made me research and learn "internet etiquette" in a hurry.

I can honestly say she was right to do so, and I had no problem ignoring my "feelings" and just make the effort to learn. I appreciate what she did for me.

We just hope that this new button set up will make it much easier for others.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
Okay....so call me a nag...whatev...

Can we please try to lay off the over use of the quote button please?

It's been moved now, you have to PASS UP the reply button to get to the quote button...so I'm sorry, but I just don't understand. Is there a better set up with the buttons we could be using?
Or...is there another reason or explanation as to why the quote button is so overused and abused? I would so appreciate it if someone would take the time to explain it to me.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
You can write me a private message about this if you wish, or post your comment here, but I would like to hear some comments.

I don't know what else to do....I do not like being a bitchy nag, so other than being a bitchy nag, I'm out of suggestions except for maybe for awhile at least, just removing the quote button from the forums altogether, which means we would all...all of us, would have to rely on copy-and-paste with some added typing if we want to quote a reply from a previous page or several posts back on a page...we would all suffer, but if it helps overall, it would be worth it I guess. (Gawd, I would hate that, that would suck so much!)

Unf went through the trouble and effort here to re-arrange the buttons, I do think the least we can do knowing that is try a bit harder to lay off the "Quote Post" button.
Please, I ask kindly?

I guess unless we come up with a better suggestion or solution, I may have to resort to being a total bitchy ass annoying freakin' (unloved boohoo!)nag...not how I like to spend my online time, nope...not at all.

Please, post a comment or send me a private message. I'm not pissed, or upset, just very perplexed!

I think the quote button is OK where it is now, think its a good thing to answer a person about a remark.Instead of just quoting a person you can edit what that person said and delete the mid portion. That way its a lot shorter but the person still knows you talk about an entry from him.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
Thank you for replying lowlands, I was just totally perplexed and confused there.

It's my bad really, sometimes I don't explain things the way I want or should. It is very very important we all try to work on this.

If ya'all go take a look at any other forum board on the internet, you don't see this kind of constant overuse of the quote feature.

Other forums are much neater, easier to read, and ours are cluttered, repetitive, hard to read, hard to even follow the topic, etc....

More traffic, more new posts, more new forum members would be great...but we need to work on the quote thing for this to happen...it is important.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
Maybe if it only shows wich message you quote instead of the whole message you quote.

quote=(Chazzy @ October 30, 2009, 10:43

That way you can look back if you want to but it doesn't take all the space.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
There's nothing wrong with using the quote button for a past post, that's exactly what its there for...when there is a reply or several replies between you and the post you specifically want to reply to.

The quote button should NOT be used if you are replying to the last post (like I am replying to you right now lowlands.)

The quote button sometimes gets used far more than the reply button, which just isn't quite right, and the forums get so cluttered up.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
I think if we all just work on this together, the problem with the forums is not that they are boring, it's not the topics, it's not the members, the problem is that flippin' quote button!

It's making the forums very messy and very unappealing to interact in.

Re: QUOTE and REPLY
Thank you....it's for the best of the site, and the forums.

That's the only reason I'm being a total bitch about it, it's good for us all that the forums are cleaner, easier to read and follow, more appealing to interact in.
