I have three;
Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Cloris Leachman, Teri Garr and Marty Feldman.
Elvira, and
The Raven, 1963, with Jack Nicholson, loosely based on the Edgar Allen Poe poem. (not so famous).

Re: Name famous ghosts and monsters
There's tons of places in CT and other New
England states that are famous for being haunted, one that sticks out to me atm is the Green Lady in Burlington, CT. My friend is convinced she's real because when he was hanging outside the graveyard she haunts, he felt her hand grabbing his throat. He got the hell out of dodge and never went back!
Also, the movie that came out recently "A Haunting in Connecticut" was in a real house and the story was about a real family, but of course Hollywood had they're fun and destroyed the story from what really happened.

DRACULA, from 1931 until the upcoming 2010 version. Yet, I am almost positive there is an even older Dracula movie. It is black and white and a silent film.
The older movies can be very eerie, it does not have to be about all blood and guts.

I think the silent movie you may be thinking of is "Nosferatu".....
I loved Gary Oldhams portrayal as Prince Vlad in the 1992 movie.

Re: Name famous ghosts and monsters
I was told to watch the movie Twilight from 2008. Its about a "normal"girl getting involved with a vampire. It was so scary that i heard a young girl say "He's so cute" and that was about the vampire. That's when the purpose of a vampire movie is gone.

You might be thinking about Nesferatu ? it's an old B&W silent film, and I think was the first Dracula movie

13 Ghost, which I am watching now. 2001 version, so much different than the original made in 1960. Yes, watched the first one at the age of 8 years old. Black and white, never forgot it. Had I seen the new version then, would have never slept again.

Re: Name famous ghosts and monsters
Christopher Lee, to me the scariest Dracula of them all..He was not the " Gentleman Type" as many were or are..his blood red eyes and wild animal look scared the hell out of me. No time to swoon the woman victim, right to the neck he went...that was when I was quite young. When he showed up on all the "Lord of The Rings" movies as Saruman I was shocked as I thought he had to have passed on years ago. They made him look older in the Dracula movies apparently. I saw Saruman and thought Christopher Lee?
Born in 1922 His movies had no Gore yet very scary...gore isn't scary, gore is just gore, it takes imagination and talent to truly scare...BOO!
