justice prevails!
A teen who felt like a "misfit" at a Abercrombie & Fitch store after not being allowed to go in the same fitting room with her autistic sister won a settlement.
The company is now paying the family $115,264 for discriminating against a person with a disability.
The store refused to let 14-year-old Molly Maxson accompany her sister with autism into a dressing room even after her mother explained the disability meant she could not be alone.
it's about time that EVERY ONE starts treating disabled people with the respect that they deserve. AUTISM is a disease. in some cases, the autistic person is not capable of performing daily functions with out assistance.
the girl just wanted to try on some nice clothing, the least they cold do was let her try on something to let her feel like she fit in. and she needed help form her sister, it's not like they planned on robbing the store blind.
thank you for allowing me to rant about this, it's a personal victory for me, sorta. my brother has two boys with Autism, one has a lower end strain, and can function fairly well on his own, but the little one is incapable of communitcating with any one other than family.

Re: justice prevails!
I just wonder when stupidity will end. I really wouldn't think that it was rocket science to let the two of them go into a dressing room to try some clothes on. Where is the common sense??????

Re: justice prevails!
right, apparently, the store must employ some pretty stupid people. i mean, it must have been pretty obvious that the girl was incapable of trying clothes on all by herself...

Re: justice prevails!
I just finished reading a summarized article on this....I understand that it was "store policy" not to allow more than one person in the dressing room at a time, but...geez...a manager could have been called in to allow this policy rule to be bent for Molly.
What was really disgusting is that a bad communication error turned so ugly when the snooty store couldn't bend down and just apologize properly for their misjudgement, and flately refused to offer any remedy on their own.
Good for Molly and her family!

Congrats to Molly! So sad there are many inconsiderate jerks in this world that don't use common sense.
