Summer's end
Leaves are falling, acorns are dropping, and it's almost time for me to trim my toenails so I can wear real shoes...aww rats...

Re: Summer's end
AHHH Chazzy did you have to remind me winter sucks. It's time to close the pool, and soon pay an outrageous amount for heat again dammit
I do like fall though, go up on Skyline Drive the see all the leaves change.

Re: Summer's end
Hope everyone had a great summer. I can't wait untill fall. It has always seemed the most surreal of the seasons.

Re: Summer's end
I love all the seasons, I do....but I'm gonna miss my wood fire badly this year (flue fire last year, still not repaired) I loved gathering wood, cutting wood, hauling wood...the whole thing.
I've still got plenty of sun, plenty of gardening and way too long toenails yet.....not ready to give up barefeet and flipflops...

Re: Summer's end
Still mowing the lawn here, for just a bit longer, anyone raking leaves yet? I like doing that, healthy bit of exercise really...
Walking on all those fallen hickory nuts and acorns can get tricky...

Re: Summer's end
Its pretty depressing here because we didnt actually have a summer this year. Well below average temperature and WAY too much rain. I planted 5 tomato plants and got a total of 4 useable tomatoes. My 5 eggplant plants produced 3 dwarfs. I dont mind Fall (I actually like it) but then comes Winter and that is SO depressing! UGH!

Yes, racking leaves here. Two huge sweet gum trees and the leaves begin to fall August and finish in February. These leaves are as big as my head. The leaves come back in April and every week can see the leaves come back out in cluster. Beautiful coming in and once full.

Re: Summer's end
I love the bright color changes in the leaves against those cloudless cornflower blue skies....and the kids are back in school, yeah they're cute and precious, but the neighborhood gets nice and quiet this time of year ya know...

Re: Summer's end
Coyotes are already being a problem to area pets and livestock, they are overpopulated this year. Usually don't see any problem with them till the night's start dipping down to freezing.

Went for a ride on my bike this afternoon, was still great. When i get off of my nightshifts and get on my bike, i feel winter is closing again.
I hate cold weather so, lookking forward to the summer of 2010.

Re: Summer's end
Still sleeping with the windows open a bit, I love the cooler nights for sure.
Not much leaf fall yet, but the acorns and hickory nuts are carpeting the lawn. Still have blooms in the gardens.
Gotta get around to that clothing switch out...pack up the skimpies, dig out the fuzzies...
