The Hangout
Most like to reflect back on their younger years or teen days...
Where did you "hang out" ?
In our small town, it was places like the local Dairy Queen, Bowling Alley (where pool tables and foosball held the attraction) and the ultimate small town hangout, a parking lot near the center of town where you could see everyone who was out cruising, and they could see you, no one parked, no one cruising meant that everyone had already gathered at one of the main party places.... up near the bluffs, or down by the river, or the field just outside of town. There were a few houses were the parents weren't home much, so that was a good gathering place too.

Re: The Hangout
Everyone would park, drive by or stand in front of the Jiffy, convenience store and chat. It was right off Hwy 27 and I believe we had our one red light at that time.
Crossroads (or as we called it the gun and knife club). It had a drive thru window and I would always down my first beer before the tires hit the pavement.
Galen's bar where I would pick up rum or vodka on the weekends, although I was not even old enough to drive.
Jackson's Pizza and Lounge, where I met the love of my life. And, Pizza Hut parking lot where all the high school athletes from other schools would come to start fights.
Mud Oval, you can just figure that one out.

Re: The Hangout
Cruising Main St by the Safeway parking lot, then 3 miles out of town to BBQ ranch,in a 650 HP 63 Dodge, that got 3 MPG But then high octane gas was about 30 cents a gallon.

Re: The Hangout
I was a foreign exchange student in a small place in Kansas and it was fun, driving up and down mainstreet, while drinking beers, bought by my friends older brother. Thought it was strange. You guys drive a car when 16 but you have to be 18 to drink a beer. Over here in Holland you can drink beer when 16 and drive a car when 18.

The beach, friends houses, local burger joints, an island, roller skating rinks... just so many.

Re: The Hangout
we had our keggers at one of the local sand pits, or would go to the stagecoach inn at Norton Kansas, where everyone went to party
