LG
By now we're all familiar with LG electronics. I found that they were originaly founded in 1958 as Goldstar. [i think I bought an ac unit with that name]
In the 1960's they made Koreas first radios, tv's, refrigerators, etc.
In 1995 they renamed themselves LG and aquired Zenith. [this explains the US market]
They have made many first in technology including the first 60"plasma tv. They also have a joint venture with Phillips. [the light bulb people]
The thing that bothers me is that in 2000 they developed the first "internet refrigerator"
WTF is an internet refrigerator?

Re: LG
Ok, I couldn't wait to find out-----LOL
An internet refrigerator, or a net fridge, is an appliance that can store chilled or frozen foods while allowing access to the Internet. Its structure is very similar to a traditional refrigerator, with one prominent difference. On one of its doors, there is a built-in computer. This built-in computer is what gives Internet refrigerators more sophisticated features.
Who'd a thunk?

Re: LG
I've seen them before, but its really a lot more than just a fridge with a computer in it that accesses the internet. As you put food in the fridge (or pantry), a lot of them have a barcode reader to keep track of your supplies. (I assume you scan them as you take them out too) This also compiles a grocery list for you, and shut ins will love this part, you can order the food over the internet (my local stop and shops do this service through the name Pea Pod)
There's also more dynamic temperature controls than normal, zoned temps within the fridge so some areas are intentionally colder or warmer, humid or drier. And other crazy features like tracking how much water you drink...

Re: LG
i'm assuming that having the internet, it'd be a hell of a lot easier to get recipes, check to see if you have all the correct ingredients on hand, and plan a meal.
