Trip to Gettysburg,Pa
Hey all! I'm getting ready to take a trip on my motorcycle to meet my Brother from NY and his Son from MD to go to Gettysburg for my Brothers Birthday,it's the first time we'll be getting togather for a ride because of the distance,and my Nephew just built a new custom motorcycle that he wants to try out.Has anyone ever been there or going to be there? we'll be there Aug.21st till Aug.23 then split up and go home.Anyone else going for any rides before the weather gets cold? If you want you can wish us good weather and good luck.Thank you!

I know what you mean,I just got mine put back togather then had to get a new Battery,tire and tune up.This will be the first trip (other then short trips around here)I've had the bike on since I got it 4 years ago.Next year I want to go to Mountainfest in Morgantown,WV again and this time camp out there,they est. 65,000 bikers was there this year.I hope to go on more rides next year and I hope to see some of you there.

I was there about 15 years ago. Its actually a very calm and peaceful place. Its hard to imagine such a violent and brutal battlefield there. Its also an interesting place for Americans to have fought, considering during the Civil War there were many of the same tactics used to fight as in the American Revolution (Guerrilla Warfare).
Gettysburg is mostly a wide open field, some trees and such, but nowhere near the amount of cover that they used in most previous battles.

Ok, I have a Suzuki DL 650 V-strom. and without making anyone mad, i won't trade it for an Harley.

The first new bike I had was a 125 Suzuki trail bike way back in 72,I'd like to have a Harley but they cost too much,maybe some day.My nephew just built a Harley chopper bobber? Looks real good,this trip will be the first time on a trip.

I started with a Honda Shaddow. Was a great one until it let me walk too often. Now with this one i'm happy. Never let me down once. Even after a crash, a car didn't see me, he was fixed and here we go again.

If I wasn't paying attention at an intersection a few days ago a woman talking on a cell phone would have hit me when she ran a stop sign,I had to stop as she went by in front of me,it was close and I still don't think she saw me!

After the crash i always drive like they don't see me. I would also like to join for Gettysburg, always liked history. Been to Normandy too, to watch the beaches and cemeteries of D-day. Made a deep impression on me.

Trip might have to wait till next weekend,my brother has to ride down from NY to his son's home in Md. then meet me in Frederick to ride to Gettysburg,Pa.but it's calling for rain all weekend and we won't be able to enjoy the ride and events much if it does rain,so we're keeping an eye on the weather and if it raining this weekend we'll just make it for next weekend.
Chazzy,I hope you get better soon,I can't give you anything cushy to sit on but if you ever needed something hard to sit on please let me know !!

Hey, as long as I got my pain pills and just keep any direct pressure off the tailbone and I'm fine! I can always bring my own sittin' pillow....I've got a favorite I carry around with me most of the time anyhow...
Gettysburg is high on my list of places I most want to visit, just that area of the country where our history is the oldest and the landscape is so gorgeous, I could spend an extraordinary amount of time in museums and antique shops, and checking out historic landmarks....just thinking about it makes my eyes light up!

Looks like it might have to wait until next year,my brother says it's calling for rain,heavy at times where he lives(New York)so my have to cancel,will let you know.

I took a 60 mile ride last year in the cold,I think it was December,thought I was going to freeze to death!But it was fun.I'll try to ride as much as possible this winter just to keep everything working,and tomorow it's going to be in the 70's here but might rain,so I'll go for a short ride if I can.How's the weather where you're at?Take care

Well going to try again,May 14th is the day we are going to make the trip this year,hope the weather's great for that weekend,I think we're going for a cabin to stay in that way we won't have to carry so much stuff on the bikes.Anyone here going to be in Gettysburg,PA that weekend?My brother posted an invite to anyone that wants to come along on a site that has alot of people on it,I don't know if I can say where.Hope everyone's having a great Friday!!

sounds like a nice trip never been there though,we went past Erie and had a pit stop once on the way to the big falls and the last lake we went camping. the Ohio turnpike was a rat race, if ya slowed to 70 ya got ran over. we had lunch on the lake in a park by Erie and took a hike the trails were all paved. my two jap bikes don't like rain and the Harley the only one that runs in the rain.we got a new pellowtop seat on it , we can ride now for 4 or 5 hours with no monkey but problems. chazzy i seem a jell-top pad for the seats nowadays, we have them on our mountain bikes they are mighty comfy

Well it's going to happend,I'm leaving home at 9:30am Friday morning heading for Gettysburg,Pa rain or shine,will be staying in a cabin with my brother,my nephew and good frind Marty,I know the rain will get us but if we ride slow and careful we should be ok.Wish my WN friends could be there!Anyone going to be in Gettysburg this weekend? Hope everyone's doing great!

Nope sorry. We're on a plane heading in the opposite direction. We are hoping to get some free vouchers for other flights at a later date. 3 out of the 4 legs of our journey, the plane is full.

Hi everyone! Made it back Sunday afternoon,had a good time with my brother,Nephew,and good friend.Lots to see but didn't see it,will have to go back,was a good ride up and around there and back home,missed all the rain,got a hail storm after we got unloaded,but didn't last long then it cleared up and we went riding,lots of history of the Civil War to check out there,need more then 2 days.Hope you all had a great weekend !

I posted pictures but on another web site,about 80 of them,I don't guess I can say where. It helps to watch a history video about Gettysburg before you go,we only got charged around $100.00 for a cabin that has a twin bed and 2 bunks with AC free shower at the bath house,not bad at all! I'll post a picture of it if I can.
