Warning:
I received a warning while chatting in the Red Room. It stated, " Warning, for flooding"...
What does this mean and what are the consequences?

Re: Warning:
flooding can happen when some one sends more than three or four of the "emotes" and you can get kicked out of the chat room when that happens, i'm not sure what else can cause flooding.

Sorry Lonely what do you mean by emotes, are hat emicons ???? emoting is just a way of flirting in the chatrooms. you can send little flirty sayings to individual members in t he room. you can "hug, kiss, flirt..etc."

Re: Warning:
"Flooding" in a chat room is kinda the same idea as SPAM emails, just sending too much stuff too fast. It sometimes can happen without warning whenever your computer lags and you're sending a bunch of messages, as the server will see those messages all being sent at the same time, triggering the flooding warning and kick.

Holler if it happens again, and if you can catch the time it happens, that could help too.

Chazzy, do you see when I posted this note. I posted it immediately following this issue.

If sending too much, too fast caused this I would be kicked out every time I go in the Red Room. It is not uncommon to be PM'd by many at one time.

When you are sending by "private message", nothing will happen. It doesn't monitor you at that point. It will only do those things when you are in the main chat area.

Re: Warning:
Let me know if it happens often....I see the time stamp on your post and the date, but don't know if that was morning or night? Maybe make a note of the time stamp on the forum index page, the grey area where it lists "newest member to post" and then there's "the time now is 00:00 AM (or PM)"
I dunno...at one time, a long time ago...we had a problem with a childish brat or two, (a few women) that if they got very jealous of other women getting attention in the chatroom, they would deliberately "flood" the chatroom with emoticons so no one could chat and talk.....yes, very juvenile I know....This "flood" warning is something in service to prevent the chatroom and the emoticons from being abused in that way.
Mooant gives a very good explanation too, that at times, things just lag, then bam...it cuts loose, everything goes through at once and the server might mistake this as "flooding" abuse and then warns and/or boots you.

Re: Warning:
I've gotten the "lag" annoyance while typing a (PM)message....I'm typing away, but nothing on the screen, then suddenly it'll flood in.
