All Star Game
I'm not into it, not into baseball at all, but since it's local, I'm seeing allot of it anyway.
I have no idea who all is playing and I don't know what a "home run derby" is.
Anyone gonna be watching?

Re: All Star Game
i wish i could watch it, but i've got to work, i might be home in time to catch a little of it.
Baseball's All Star Game, in my opinion, is the best "all star" game of any sport. yeah, it can be a popularity contest, but the league and coaches also get to pick some of the players, based on their stats and abilities. and each team gets at least ONE representative. (my team has got 3 players going!)
the home run derby is always a good show (even though Joe Mauer, the catcher for the Twins, only hit five total) Prince Fielder hit a ball nearly 500 ft. that's awesome!!
Major League Baseball does not allow showboating during the actual game. and the players don't get paid to play. it shows respect for the game.

Re: All Star Game
I know the game is on tonight, but I'm sure I won't get to watch much of it, got stuff to do...but since I'm not a big sports fan, I'll just catch the highlights tomorrow.
So what's this home run derby? I have no idea...is it just a game of baseball? Who plays? How's all that go?

Re: All Star Game
i made it home in time to watch the last hitter bat.
Chazzy, the home run derby is when selected players get the opportunity to see how many home runs that they can hit, the pitchers throw "Strike pitches" and each player bats until he gets the equivalent to three outs of a normal game. i think...
i've never actually gotten to watch it, i am usually stuck at work.

Re: All Star Game
Well that just sounds cooler than a baseball game and next year, I might even watch that...ummm...do they televise it?
I did hear Sherly Crowe sing the National Anthem while I was cleaning the kitchen and that's about all of the game I caught...

Re: All Star Game
yeah, they usually televise the derby, it's usually held the day before the actual game.
