Salt substitutes
Anyone using any salt substitutes? Hubs is hypertensive, heart probs....I don't salt any of our food now at all and haven't tried any of the substitutes..some are pretty pricey so I thought I'd ask before I spend too much on trial and error.

Re: Salt substitutes
I don't like the salt substitutes that are mass marketed. I usually use a spice mix. There are quite a few depending on your tastes. My favorite is an Italian seasoning mix if I'm in a hurry, otherwise I just mix together whatever I'm in the mood for. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Re: Salt substitutes
Not sure if this'll help----

Sea Salt is suppose to be more "pure"?

I have seldom added salt to anything though out my life. Most foods [especially prepackaged ones] have more than enough salt in them already.

Re: Salt substitutes
You bet, the sodium content in packaged foods is outrageous! Wow, the amount of time I spend reading labels for hubs...

Re: Salt substitutes
Many grocery stores supply Mrs. Dash that can be substituted on foods for salt. Going natural, using natural herbs from the garden are hearty, delicious and are incredibly delicious and so healthy.
