Chatrooms
I've been away for a few weeks and now I'm back the chatrooms seem to be permanently down.
Is there an election pending or something else I've missed?

unf has been working VERY hard to remedy the problem  . it's a software issue. i hope it gets fixed soon.

Hmmm - it just says:
"The chatroom is not available at this moment"
and strangely I can't see anyone in the rooms when I'm in the forums.

There's a "sticky" thread right above you in general discussions, "PROBLEMS ENTERING CHAT"
There's a couple of links there to follow for a full explanation of things, any updates,
It's something that has been happening about the same time in the evening hours and it's back up and running late at night.

I don't think it's this problem as I don't even get the option to enter chat.
I've raised a trouble ticket with the support people.

Well, tell me exactly what does happen when you try to chat? What browser do you have? What do you see when you try to enter chat?

The " Live Chat " page loads OK as far as I can see, but instead of links to the two chat rooms ("The Lobby" & "The Red Room"  appearing I get in big red letters:
"The chat is not available at the current time"
This is not intermittent and doesn't appear to be time related i.e. it happens all the time.
Mt laptop has IE7 and Windows XP and I have the latest (recommended) version of Java.

Also, when you are browsing the top level forum it has a list of users also in the forums. I used to appear in this list but now I don't.
I appear to have become deux ex machina.

Did you happen to read through this link? I think it's the second page on where the same "The chat is not available at the current time" problem is discussed, proxy servers, firewalls, ports and such are some suggested reasons.

You're not showing up in the "who's online" list either...you're spooky! 
Well, if you created a ticket, then someone will get back to you soon, I'm hoping every one didn't take off for the holiday weekend.
