Freakin' dumb ass macho state police!
What's up with those frustrated mall security personnel masquerading as state policemen giving that ambulance driver a hard time when he had a patient in the ambulance and on the way to the emergency room? Didn't they have a donut run to make or something?

Re: Freakin' dumb ass macho state police!
I agree with Bill, some of these cops are outta control. From what I understand, he pulled the ambulance over because it was speeding an emergency patient to a hospital, but the ambulance didnt have it's lights or sirens on (which was stupid on the driver's part). However, instead of realizing the driver made a mistake and there was an emergency situation going on and getting the ambulance back on its way, he chose to hassle the driver. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Like the story recently about the cop who tazered a 72 year old woman. Or the other cop who detained that NFL player who was trying to get to the hospital to see his mother in law before she died. Even when hospital personnel came out and verified the man's story, he still wouldnt let him go and while he was being detained, she passed away.
This past Saturday, I was leaving a grocery store with a friend of mine and saw a cop ticketing someone who was parked in a handicapped space without the proper stickers. I was walking to my car and he drove past me and, under my breath, I said to my friend "I guess the real criminals must have the day off today". Well, he must have had some type of "Miracle Ear" device because he was a good 30 feet past me. He stopped, put the car in reverse and stopped as I was loading my groceries and said "you have something to say to me?" Not once, but 3 times. I politely smiled and said "No Sir". Now the last I knew, a private conversation is not a crime. And even if I had yelled my remarks in his direction, thats not a crime either. Believe me, I dont condone parking in handicap spots, thats just wrong. And I DO respect law enforcement. But to me, this was just a money grab, as are many of the things these local cops do in this town. A bloated ego, a gun and a badge is not a good combination.

As it is, these mall cop wanna-bes are on administrative leave and may be fired.
What if the patient in the ambulance was to go into cardiac arrest or died in that ambulance while those dick heads were detaining the driver? Can you say lawsuit?

Re: Freakin' dumb ass macho state police!
I wasn't aware the ambulance didn't have its lights nor siren on. [rather stupid concidering the situation] I do understand the state patrol was on a call of it's own. The ambulance was stopped because the driver failed to yeild to the state patrol.

Re: Freakin' dumb ass macho state police!
sometimes, they don't turn the lights and sirens on, unless it's a life threatening situation. if it's just a broken leg, or what ever, they may decide to not use the sirens to keep from creating a noise disturbance. i don't know the full story, but that's a possible reason for the "no lights, no siren excuse" but still, what the officers in question did was completely and utterly uncalled for, i agree with them for pulling the ambulance over, but they should not have harassed the driver, they merely needed to see what the problem was, and let them be on their way. or better yet, they should have just made radio contact with the driver to see if they needed any assistance.

Re: Freakin' dumb ass macho state police!
Yeah, if it's an non emergency transport, then no lights or sirens and NO speeding...
If they were speeding without lights and sirens, they were a severe safety threat on the road.
That's what the lights and sirens are for. From what I've been able to gather, both drivers and cop were idiots butting heads putting their own egos before public safety.

which is why i agree with the cops, pulling them over was the right thing to do, but they should have just given a warning, and let them be on their merry way!

Re: Freakin' dumb ass macho state police!
From what I've been able to read up on it, (it's hard to find anything in reputable print, it's all huppla from the dash board cam) the EMT's dished the cocky attitude...the cop was wrong too, but if I'm being transported to a hospital, I want my EMT's to check the ego and get their freakin' ducks in a row.
Bottom line legally, a state cop's job is the highway. He had no other choice but to stop the ambulance really. The escalation between all the men was just stupid.
