How the F*CK!!!!
I just read where the average hourly wage "earned" by UAW workers at Ford Motor Company is $70.51 ($140,020/yr), GM is $73.26 ($146,520/yr), and CHRYSLER is $75.86 ($151,720/yr) compared to an average hourly salary at TOYOTA, HONDA and NISSAN at $48.00 ($96,000/yr).
My question is how the f*ck is some poor slob making a lousy $15.00/hr supposed to afford to buy one of these overpriced pieces of sh*t? Am I the only one that thinks this is a totally f*cked up situation?

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
No, youre not. No offense to any WN folks who may be UAW members, but this is just ridiculous.

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
If I was a UAW auto worker, I wouldn't say a thing. I'd be way too embarrassed to be bragging about whether I'm "worth" that kind of money. That in it self, is a ridiculous concept!!

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
Did what you read factor in benefits in those numbers, or is that separate? And not that it's an issue these days Bill, but the one thing you forgot to mention was overtime pay.

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
It's something I would have to look up. I use to know quite a few that worked at the Chrysler plant up near the city. They were good folks that cherished the fact they had really good jobs but I didn't see anything that suggested they earned that kind of money.
They lived good, had nice homes (nice, not mansions) thier wives worked, their kids were not spoiled. They lived like good hard working people.
I do remember when one of these guys, a long time Chrysler employee guy was horribly injured in an auto accident (on his day off) ended up with a broken back, Chrysler fixed him up with a wheelchair accessible Chrysler van...I thought that was an exceptional move on their part.
Yep, these workers were often the envy of some of the locals because of the job, it's pay and benefits but the ones I knew were such good people and were often the referral gateway for a few others to also get hired on there, sadly for whatever good that did...the plant is closed now.

On the subject of benefits, GM spends more on Healthcare than it does on sheet metal.

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
I just wonder where they came up with that "earned hourly wage"? I real don't think any of the line workers make that kind of money, I know they don't make it at the Ford plant in St. Paul. But they may be talking about "total compsenation", which would include all costs for the employee.

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
It does include everything, their actual paycheck, is I believe around what Toyota etc total pay is, so all the benefits make it seem a lot more.

This reminds me of a saying I saw on a T-shirt many years ago. It said: Be American. Buy American. The job you save, may be your own.

Its just me. I work for the State and the total cost for me, hourly wage and benifits, is about $65,000. But I have to live on about $29,000.

Now you know that flp are damn good people, you gotta know they are hard workers with strong ethics, I wouldn't be surprised if that joke just don't fly.
What you said, although meant as just a funny, could be pretty insulting.

Hey, you be careful...for one, I sure as hell wouldn't wanna be a state worker who deals with state prisoners all day, or a state worker who has to constantly check in on crack whores to see if they are feeding their kids, or a state worker who's gotta gather up piss tests for probationers, for the amount of money these people get paid....I'm damn glad there are state workers out there who in their hearts must hear some higher caller for a responsiblity to society and community to do these kind jobs and allot other jobs.
Don't you be pissey on state workers there, VB.

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
As a former citizen of Massachusetts, I often saw and read about lazy ass, union protected state "workers" that would constantly not show up for work or come to work stinkin' drunk or strung out, putting other citizens at risk of injury or death. What happened to these losers? Fired or prosecuted? Fuck no! They would be protected by the unions that they "worked" under.
I realize that most state union and non-union workers are not users but I was just venting on those who take extreme advantage of their employment positions. They deserve to lose their jobs and maybe made to pay for their transgressions.
Just my humble opinion......

Re: How the F*CK!!!!
I don't care if they are state employed or not, union or not....any lazy ass drunk idiots should lose their jobs.
I can say that without insulting any large collection of employees in one large lump. Simply, without turning this into a pro or con union messy debate...ya know how I roll...
