Ordered to close!!
My local Chrysler dealer got the letter from Chrysler headquarters yesterday. The letter stated that they would no longer be a Chrysler dealer. They were in business 55 years.
I was going to buy out my leased mini van through them on the 28th of next month. That's the same dealer that leased me the van in the first place.
The owners of that dealership owned the building and all the cars that they had in the inventory and yet, in the opinion of the Chrysler Corporation are no longer fit to fly the Chrysler banner.
How will the latest round of closings effect your community and you personally?

Re: Ordered to close!!
the only one in this area that took the hit is a few towns away, but they are going to sell Ford now. they had planned to sell to another Chrysler dealership, but now that deal fell through, and they lost a shitload of money on the deal.

More closings and more to come, so if you're smart, you'll stay low for awhile prior to jumping your ass around and spending your pennies anywhere!!! So sad that there were/are people in the world that don't/didn't save a/for the rainy day, thinking they are/weren't in the red. (frivolous doesn't get you anywhere in life)

Re: Ordered to close!!
same here, Faws Garage was given notice yesterday they are on the chopping block. As a small town, this will hurt, as we already lost a bakery, a hardwarev store, a clothing store, a lumber yard, a bowling alley, & a bar. Faws garage has been in business over 100 years. Dont seem fair

Wow, I guess I haven't been paying too much attention since I cant afford to buy another car right now, despite all the great deals. I feel sorry for all their families.

Re: Ordered to close!!
Just thinkin'........every new car dealer we've ever either bought a vehicle or leased a vehicle from has gone out of business within 3 years. I'm talking 10 new cars over the 320....er....32 years we've been married!
Weird huh?

Re: Ordered to close!!
This is how rural my area is....no major car dealerships around at all, ...just used car lots, the only new vehicle dealerships around for at least 35 to 40 miles sell tractors.
But statewide, this will hurt big time.

I'd say so! The dealers that are being targeted for closing are the ones that sell the least amount of Chrysler product cars....period! Doesn't matter how long they've been a Chrysler dealer or even if they own the building, the property and own outright all the cars in their inventory. Only matters how many new vehicles the sell per month. If a dealer in your area only sells a small amount of new ones every month, the dealer will be terminated.
GM will announce their round of dealer closings next month. And they say the recession is over.......

Re: Ordered to close!!
a Chevy/Pontiac dealer 6 miles east just closed, the same guy just bought out the only close Chrysler dealer,a few months ago, it's still in business. There is another Chevy dealer, 10 miles west , so we aren't losing too much locally....Yet
