Hanging a hammock
Got a great shady place I wanna hang a hammock, and I know I'll need some sort of rig that goes from the trees to the hammock end....something adjustable.
I've seen the tree saver straps, but have also read the mixed consumer reviews on them so I'm not sure I wanna go with the tree saver straps or the old school eye bolts right into the tree method?

Re: Hanging a hammock
I try to avoid turning bolts, driving spikes etc into trees, especially my landscape trees. I'm not familiar with the straps you mention, but several turns of heavy(5/8" or larger) nylon rope would probably work if you get it tight. May depend on the kind of tree/ roughness of bark. Just remember to take the rope off in the fall, trees grow during the winter, too.

Re: Hanging a hammock
I'd rather use the tree saver straps, they just wrap around the tree and hook to the hammock, I've read the consumer reviews on the straps, pretty good but they say they can slip some....and some even say they used a heavy nail under the strap. I wanted to avoid any damage to the oak trees at all.
I would be taking the hammock down during the off seasons.
