Planet Earth!!!!!!!!
Anybody had the extreme pleasure of viewing the Discovery Channel's "PLANET EARTH" documentary It ran in 2008. I watched every Sunday evening when it was broadcast. The cinematography displaying the sheer wonder of this earth is simply too overwhelming to put into words.
So I just purchased the complete collection on Blu-Ray dvd (EBAY). It looks freakin' spectacular on my plasma tv. Better than sex!! 
If you have these dvds, what is your overall impression?

I think I have watched bits and pieces of it...I do like that kind of stuff....there's so much on to watch between the NatGeo, History and Discovery Channel....

I too, love this kinda stuff. Nature is the most fascinating wonder. Makes you think.....at which end of the scale are we humans?

I also love these sort of things too. What is amazing is how they get those stunning shots. They actually show how they do it. I have these collections on blueray: Planet Earth, Mother Earth, The Blue Planet and Prehistoric Earth. Awesome!

I like "How the Earth Was Made"
"The Universe" "Naked Science"..... all good stuff...I can't really fathom what 30 billion years ago is, or how far 5 million lights is...but thats kinda part of it, feeling very small, insignificant and overwhelmed by the universes and space.
They're repairing the Hubble! I love Hubble!

A light year means the distance that light travels in one year....186,000 miles per second x 60 seconds(minute) x 60 minutes(hour) x 24 hours(day) x 365days(year)= 5,878,499,814,186.5 miles in one year!!
To take your "vision" a bit further, do you realize that Hubble takes pictures of stars that are some 100 billion light years away? That means that the light (image) that left that star, left that star 100 billion years ago and just reached the Hubble. That kind of immense time and distances are a mind f*ck! Humbling too!!!!!

A further stretch of your imagination dictates I lay this on you.
There are more stars in the discernable universe (what Hubble can see) than there are grains of sand on the earth. That includes all deserts and all beaches on earth. 
How about what's beyond the stars 100 billion light years away?

in not too long those films and the like will all you will be able to see.....scientists have now said that the polar ice caps will melt in the seasons...like summer and refreeze in winter.those along the shorelines of countrys better grow gills......and fast!!!!lol.

I made a statement in my original post saying watching Planet Earth was better than having sex. Well I may have overstated that point. I would consider a episode of Planet Earth as "foreplay". The only thing that could possibly top that would be to be watching Planet Earth while having sex!!

I love these programs that show the amazing geography of the earth, but when it comes to the Grand Canyon (I've yet to visit there) I hear nothing on film can even compare to seeing it for yourself, it just cannot be captured on film in any way to begin to give the feel of the vastness of it.
No matter what kind of TV or theater you view in on.
