who would you cover?
OK, we've had forum topics on music before, and the "1 song, several artists" one got me wonderin', if you could (or already are) be in a band, and had the chance to have a hit with a cover of some one Else's music, what song, what instrument would you use, and is there any special reason?

for me, i think my number one choice would be "can't help falling in love" by Elvis and I'd be singing it. (when my my ex was pregnant with my oldest daughter, whenever the baby became restless, I'd sing this song to her, in the womb, and she'd settle right down! it still has a calming effect on her...)

Re: who would you cover?
I don't know about me, but my daughter wants to play with Chicago someday. I told her, they may live long enough for her to do so!

Re: who would you cover?
I cover lots of artists and lots of songs. Probably my favorite artists to cover would be John Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Cat Stevens, Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Some of my favorite songs to cover are
Jealous Guy - John Lennon
No More Lonely Nights - Paul McCartney
You're My Home & Miami 2017 - Billy Joel
Where Do The Children Play? - Cat Stevens
Bed of Roses & Its My Life - Bon Jovi (acoustic versions)
Small Town & Cherry Bomb - Mellencamp

I know that there are hundreds more, but these were the first that come to mind

Re: who would you cover?
I would cover John Lennon's, Imagine. I still love that song!
I would need someone to play it for me though since I only play "at" the guitar and keyboard...

Re: who would you cover?
If I were in a band,I would want us to be known for our own songs, not someone elses.
Cover versions are seldom as good as the originals(ie Devo-satisfaction).

good point, but it's not really about the quality of the remake, it's more about paying homage to the original artist, who generally is a big influence on a young musician. (and let's not forget that there are, on occasion covers that outdo the original...i.e. Van Halen's cover of the Kinks "You Really Got Me".

Re: who would you cover?
I love a good cover, I do appreciate the original work but often I can find it a bit tired and dated and prefer the newer fresher cover.

I mentioned this once before but I think the Moody Blues song, "Story in Your Eyes" would cover very well as a fast paced bluegrass song. ( I can hear it in my head, and it sound really good)
