Crappy phones
Would I be the only one who does this????
I've got one friend who calls from her really crappy cell phone, not sure why it's crappy, if it's the cell phone or the provider...but it cuts out all the time we're trying to talk...so...anymore when her number pops up on my caller ID, I let it ring, wait a bit and call her back on her land line...
I get a tad frustrated with a conversation I have to constantly pepper with "What? What? You're cuttin' out on me? Are you still there?"

Re: Crappy phones
A lot has to do with the carrier. I am a staunch defender of Verizon if only that their coverage is much better than their competition. I very, very rarely have issues with cut-outs or drop calls. jmo

Re: Crappy phones
Verizon is now the primary carrier in this area. I don't think anyone I talk to has a different carrier, or if they do, it's a small company that uses verizon's towers... we haven't dealt with any dropped calls in a long time

Re: Crappy phones
I know, this post isnt about carrier endorsements, but I agree about Verizon. I only wish they would also do the "roll over minutes" thing. As far as service, you'd never know that I wasnt on a land line. No fuzzy or dropped calls. In fact, I think the last time I had any of those issues was back in the 90's.

Re: Crappy phones
The other competing carriers offer roll over minutes and other perks but the one thing they fail to offer is a guarantee they will not give you less than stellar service with no drop calls.......
Man,I sound like a freakin' ad for Verizon, don't I??

Re: Crappy phones
There are spots around here where your cell phone wont work right no matter what kind you've got, or who your carrier is.

Re: Crappy phones
Same here, oak. No matter how good verizon is, there are still remote spots around here where I can't get a signal. I think those "network" guys are afraid of the woods..

Re: Crappy phones
With all the mountains around here, we have dead spots too, but once you learn where they are, you know when not to make a call on the road. We are a mile away from the tallest peak around, with all the antennas on it, so reception is great at home.

Re: Crappy phones
She (the one who's calls from her cellphone make me cringe)must live in a "dead zone" (cute commercials, the commercials about the dead zones with a spooky theme)...anyway, I'll tell her she's cuttin' out, can't hear her and she does the walking around thing "Can you hear me now?"

Re: Crappy phones
We've had AT&T and now T-Mobile. Have no complaints about either of them. We have done traveling here in the midwest and out in Nevada and California. Always had good reception. The worst is when I have to drive to work. Because I have to drive in a river valley, I get spotty reception.

Re: Crappy phones
was reading someplace on line that some of them old crappy phones might be worth big bucks ,they were paying up to 32000 bucks for the right one on the black market , guess they are in high demand by the crooks for money laundering using text messaging codes.
