Re: Gardens
That is why i have not had a garden for years. Just did not have time to keep up with the weeds, and the critters were eating it as fast as things came in.

Re: Gardens
yepper, we were having the same problem too, funlovin gophers would eat up our onion sets and peas and such as fast as u could plant and if that didnt happen then they empty the bird feeder too and plant them sumflowers seeds all over for us, then it rain and all kinds of stuff would pop.....

Re: Gardens
Not planting a darn thing just yet, we've got predictions for a cold snap, I'll just cover the rose bushes and wait a couple of weeks for spring.
I do have plans to build a memorial garden for my bro....several of his friends are doing the same.

Re: Gardens
It is too early to put anything in the ground yet. A memorial garden sounds great Chazzy what kind of flowers will you plant?

Re: Gardens
We had to cut down an old pear tree that died, and I want to replace it with either a weeping cherry, or a smoke tree, then I have a couple of garden statues, and a bench, the hollow stump of the pear tree will be a planter, and I'll use annual bedding plants in the ground. The only problem is this stinkin' economy right now, buying the larger tree is just out of budget this year...but....that's the plans.

Re: Gardens
That sound beautiful chazzy, it would be a great place to sit and think and enjoy the day. I'm not looking forward to what the price of the plants are going to be this year.

Re: Gardens
I love my gardens! I think I have 3 herb gardens now, a rose garden, meditation garden and a couple of flower beds by the store. We've also started a grove on the side yard, all flowering trees. Hard is building some benches for me to put in the grove and some for the rose garden. The vegy garden just covers the basics, tomatoes, peppers, squash, pumpkins and corn. Next weekend is our trip to the garden center, then I'll know for sure what I'll be planting this year. There are too many pretty things...I want them all!!
