Google Street View
Google street view has recently been launched here in England, and already people are up in arms about its "invasion of privacy". Is it right, or even fair that people can be seen quite clearly exiting sex shops, smoking a sneaky cigarette or taking the secretary to lunch?
Others say it is a burglars guide to "online shopping"!
I'm not really sure what I think about it yet, but I do know one thing, if God isn't watching over me, Google sure is!

Re: Google Street View
Personally, I don't care. There's security cameras and states have cameras for traffic.
If someone has such a pathetic life that they feel the need to watch me, then I feel sorry for them.

Re: Google Street View
There's an up side and a down side to these street cameras. Yes, I think it's an invasion of privacy... on the other hand, some of the simple corner cameras have helped catch criminals... anyone from a purse snatcher to a murderer.

I fully agree with CCTV and its lawful purpose. Just seems bizzare that Google can get away with displaying personal images, when a guy here recently got a
caution off the police for taking a photograph in the park of his own kids.

Yep, a load of crap, but sadly true. We have a new indoor/outdoor water park built here, an ideal party venue for young and old alike. Photography is totally banned!! It's friggin nuts!!

Outdoor water park in the North East - shurely, shome mishtake.
Mind you must be huge numbers of erect nipples given the local's aversion to clothing. Maybe that's why photography's banned canny lass.

I've been reading this thread since it's been posted, and this morning I ran across an article on the CNN website...
"(CNN) -- Google's ambitious plan to offer a 3-D street level view of communities across three continents hit a snag when angry residents of a UK village blocked the search engine's camera car from photographing their homes.
Broughton, can be seen from the air on Google Earth, but not from the ground.
Fearing the appearance of their well appointed properties on the Web site would attract criminals scouting for burglary targets, villagers in Broughton, north of London, summoned the police after spotting the car."
Hey, I like people that when faced with something they don't like, take action dammit!!!
