Frustrated Consumers...
Yep, I'm one....we're getting less and paying more that ice cream is sold in smaller, less than Half Gallon containers
Even toilet tissue, the rolls are the same size (diameter) but the card board tube is much larger.
I bought cat food the other day, I noticed a price hike, then picked up the bag to put it in my cart and discovered that not only am I paying about $1.50 more, but now the bags weigh 16 pounds instead of the 18 pounds.

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
That's the game that purveyors of pre-packaged goods played back in the inflationary times of the 1970's too. I can remember cany bars getting smaller every year in the effort not to raise the price too much at one jump. Saloons woud get smaller and different shaped glasses to serve draft beer in, hoping no one would realize they were getting less for their money. By the way, Chazzy, packages of toilet paper should be marked as to the number of sheets on a roll. There's a price difference between 1-ply and 2-ply TP, too. Probably you knew that.

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
It seems that everything has downsized but the prices keep increasing...I know I'm buying the same things, but always running out...I started looking a little closer at the weight and count of things...

It's not just now or in the 1970's. Manufacturers have been playing this game almost forever.

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
I use to buy Tide in 300 oz. They made it 150 oz and claim it's "concentrated".
Funny about that. The same amount of both cleans the same amount of clothes the same.

I just use what I feel is necesarry to clean the clothes I have in. Tide still works the best on my clothes since they get quit dirty from working on the truck.------[non-compensated endorsement]

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
Good point guys, I noticed the laundry soap shelves are now all filled with little bottles marked 2X or 3X concentrated.
I still buy the big ole jug of purex, for value reasons.

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
Ewww...I'm one of those fussy ones, I don't like the big plastic bottles of soda, gotta be a small container, I rarely drink soda but it's gotta be fresh and very fizzy.

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
It's the recent ridiculus price increases on name brand sodas sold in cans by the 12 or 24 pack that affect this house, I rarely drink the stuff, and hubs has had to cut way back for his health but he's stubborn, and there's no chance of bringing any (generic) Sam's Choice home, I'm the kind that if I stick with something different, I'll adjust and get use to the change, he won't even try.

Yeh, I'm kinda like your husband. A creature of habit. I keep my Cherry Coke and Cherry Pepsi around for my Bacardi 100 proof. The off brands just don't cut it!!

I'll have to readily admit, I've tried to switch to a generic brand coffee, and it does not work for me...

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
I have found it depends on the generic brand, I have tried some things and like it better than the name brand but some are not very good. I have tried some peanut butters and they are not good at all. So some things I have to have name brand. Pa has caught me trying generic and he knows the difference.

Re: Frustrated Consumers...
Some generics are as good or better, but I've struck a deal with the hubs, I don't skimp on my coffee and he gets to keep his ultrasoft pricey tush paper (he has hemorrhoids,ya know)
