Should have worn a helmet..........
I have been skiing for quite a few years. Early on, I never saw helmets on anyone. Then I saw them on the little kids. Then came the fashionable helmets with nice, bright colors and shapes. Still, I didn't buy one. Then about 5 years ago, after my wife and the couple we used to ski with bought theirs, I relented and bought one. It keeps my head warm as well as safe. It's the wisest move I've ever made.
Hell, I've been wearing seatbelts faithfully for the last 35 years and the whole time, I've been railing to everyone about how stupid it is not to wear one while driving. But I had to be hen-pecked into wearing a ski helmet. Man, sometimes I can be a real asshole when I want to be. Now, I wouldn't think of doing a beginners slope or a double diamond without wearing my helmet!!
As for the actress who died this week due to a skiing fall, I'll bet that her instructor didn't have a helmet on either. About 1/3 of the instructors at the ski resort I ski, don't wear helmets either. I would think the operators of all ski resorts would mandate that their ski instructors don helmets when they are teaching their classes. They also should require the students to wear one.
It seems it takes a tragedy like Ms Richardson's to change people's attitudes as to taking steps to insuring their safety and well being and staying around for their loved ones.
I'm sure I'll hear about the time some dickhead swears that if he would have died in a car accident if he had been wearing his seatbelt.

Oh yeh I was a freakin' big bad Bruin fan too. Cashman, Orr, Esposito, Sanderson, ect...... All that hair flowing sans the helmets. Hey, that was yesterday, right? You'll never see that again! And good riddance!
As for skiing....the snow surface is groomed and hard. You fall backwards, you hit your head and you could be a statistic real fast.
Wear your helmet or maybe you'll be sleeping with the angels or worse. Maybe a veg the remainder of your life and your family' who'll be stuck with your lifeless, brain dead body......Think about it!!!!!
