Old friends.............
Just the other day, I broke down and emailed a very old friend of mine that I hadn't seen in about 8 years. As a matter of fact, we grew up together, he was in my wedding and to be honest, our wives grew up together and were the best of friends......but they developed some work related jealousy issues so we all became estranged.
Well I missed my old friend and grew tired of not having him around to talk to and stuff. He called me less than 24 hours after the email was sent, to tell me that he wanted to get together with me. If the wives wanted to come along, fine. If not, then fuck 'em!! He and I will have lunch or something without 'em. He and I have known each other longer than we've known our wives so there!!
MY wife was not in a good mood after I told her about my conversation with my old friend but I told her my feelings and she said I have put her in an awkward position, what with her and his wife on the outs and all. Well those two will just have to get over their petty feud as far as we're concerned. He and I are good to go!! 
Any observations or tales of friendships lost or abandoned due to stupid and silly jealousies?

It is difficult for me to understand that, it isn't as if you are asking your wife to resume her friendship with his wife. If you'd slept with his wife, that would be an entirely different story

My wife also grew up with his wife and were friends since grammar school but they also worked together after we were married so that's where some petty jealousies cropped up and thus our estrangement for the last 10 years or so.
Well it's coming to an end in a couple of weeks. My friend and I are meeting for lunch and if the wives care to join us and bury the hatchet, fine. If they care to continue their fued then fuck 'em, my good friend and I are moving on without 'em! We were firends long before we knew our wives so there is a great amount of history......good history and a sh*t load of catching up to do. Life's to freakin' short to be stupid and petty!!

I don't get that petty jealousy thing. Heck one of my friends is someone my ex screwed around with in high school behind my back. We became friends when she called to apologize to me because he told her we weren't dating anymore. She had great integrity to apologize, everyone needs friends like that.
I agree, petty stuff should be left behind but some women can't get over it. I'm more like a guy and would prefer to punch you in the arm and get on with things than hold a grudge! Of course you'd have to admit I was right.

Sleep with his wife? Oh god, no! I'd rather sleep in a bunk bed under OPRAH.......I'd rather bait an alligator with my manhood! Get the depth of my "reluctance"? She's the major reason we became estranged in the first place! She's a freakin' whack job!
The bottom line is John and I are good ....the wives are the problem.
