Re: help...with the wifes hair
I've got a head full of curly long hair, I use Lo'reals Vive high gloss deep hydrating shampoo and conditioner, then a detangler(The generic Equate brand works best for me) A "defrizz" product might help, they have an oil base to them.
If it's really severe, maybe...don't laugh...but maybe a trip to the pet groomers or the farm and home store, they sell some great stuff for horse's manes and tails, I've never used the stuff, but it might be worth a shot...
I've taken to wearing my hair in braids lately to avoid the tangling (especially when I sleep)

Hydrating from the inside won't hurt a bit either, get her to drink allot of water.
The defrizz I use is Garnier's Fruictis de-frizz serum....it comes in a short squatty bottle with a green pump. It'll help get the tangles out,

I do spray that stuff in my wife's hair in the morning. It works like a charm.....no snarls or tangles!!

Re: help...with the wifes hair
Don't use the hot oil treatments! In my experience, they do more damage than good. I have naturally straight hair.... I can imagine what it would do to curly hair. I went motorcycle riding one time and didn't braid my hair... took all night to finally get the tangles out. I loaded it up with pantene conditioner and combed it out while in the shower. My sister in law is a beautician and said to use a brush on dry hair... didn't work for me, though.
Chaz is right about the defriz stuff. Garnier is good. So is the pantene stuff. Frizz Ease doesn't work worth a ****.
I've use some stuff called Biosilk many times. It's not cheap, but it works wonders! A small bottle goes a long way, too.
