Cheesy movies
I was reading about Mickey Rourke and his Oscar nomination for The Wrestler. The writer was talking about one movie he made that won a razzie and how it was so awful.
It got me to thinking--I love a lot of cheezy movies, that "they," critics or whomever say are soo awful.
What are your favorite cheesy movies and why?
Mine are
1) Flash Gordon (Sam Jones made me hot and the music was by Queen, need i say more?)
2) Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (The Micky Rourke movie they say is so awful. I think that's part o it's charm)
Ok, your turn, I wanna hear what movie and why you love it!

Re: Cheesy movies
At the time, I thought they were cutting edge, but now they are cheesy in comparison. I'm talking about the old, "Godzilla" flicks. you know the ones where the guy in the suit trashes the model of downtown Tokyo. Oh, and while I'm at it the parody of Flash Gordon called, "Flesh Gordon" some of the jokes still crack me up today. Also any movie that has the label of, "cult classic" attached to it. One in particular is, "Buckaroo Banzai-Across the 8th Dimension"...

Re: Cheesy movies
They Live is an excellent cheesy movie, it;s like a train wreck in front of you--you want to look away but you just can't, lol.
I love the old godzilla movies, as well. and I've seen parts (giggle) of Flesh Gordon but never have been able to "sit" through the whole thing.
Personally, I don't call "Highlander" cheesy, but some people do--more fool they!
Isn't it funny I had the names of all these cheesy movies I love all lined up in my head but now I can't remember one!

Re: Cheesy movies
I was just gonna say, I loved watching Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man! Only got to watch it once since it's not a movie I really want my kids to be watching.
Cheesy movie I got, that is funny to watch time to time is "Bring it on". I don't even have to explain it. Just watch it and if you have the same sense of humor I do, you'll get it. lol.

Re: Cheesy movies
If youre ever at a loss for a cheesy movie, just turn on Lifetime. Family Guy has mocked it so often that I had to turn it on and see what the joke was all about. I am now enlightened!

Re: Cheesy movies
USED CARS is another movie you know is about as cheesy as you've ever seen but you watch it anyway, laugh your ass off and remember some of the lines from it and repeat them to fellow USED CARS junkies. It's a cult movie at it's cheesiest, funny though. A freakin' no brainer but funny as hell.
Kurt Russell, Jack Warden and Deborah Harmon star along with Lenny and Squiggy stars David Lander and Michael McKean.
My 87y/o mother-in-law states it's the funniest movie along with TOMMY BOY that she can remember.

Yeh, I saw that one. It seemed more "factual" than cheesy but that's just my opinion!!

Re: Cheesy movies
"Repo Man " factual? Dunno, been a while since I saw it. Has anyone seen Weird Al Yankovic's "UHF"? It also includes a younger Michael Richards and Victoria Jackson.
