Hostility
I'm crawling out of my sick bed to check in on things here, and I just want to ask that, any members with hostile or ill feelings toward each other, please, take it private. Nobody wants to choose sides, or is even able to. Everyone and their opinions and posts are very welcome. So many of us depend on this forum for entertainment and socializing. Sorry if I offend anyone with these comments, maybe I could have stated things better, but right now, I'm going to crawl back to bed....luv U all....

Re: Hostility
I agree with Chazz so very much. I have been very guilty of bringing hostility into the open forum in the past and I regretted it greatly. I am a different man now.

Re: Hostility
Would you like a backrub Chazzy? I could make us breakfast and clean the kitchen while you took a hot bath. While you were admiring and smelling the beautiful roses I brought you to cheer you up I could put on some soothing cello and pick-up all the clutter of indecent things that pile up when one is sick.

After I put new linen on the bed you could get a massage starting with your neck and face and working down. Before I was halfway through you would forget you were sick.

Re: Hostility
Gawd, I LOVE cello!!

I've been guilty of the hostilty thing myself, I think most of us have at one time or another !

I'm feeling a little better today. I'm hoping I've pinpointed my problem. a most common menace.....mold and mildew. I live in a 100 yr old 2 story with basement brick house. When the furnace broke down in December, it took 3 weeks to get it replaced, during that time, there was allot of moisture and condensation. Even though the new furnace and the wood stove have dried the house out somewhat, the mold/mildew took hold. I'm very hopeful that I'm not dealing with the "stachy mold" here and I'll soon see an end to "feeling like crap" all the time!

Re: Hostility
Get better soon !!! Be careful with some of that mold, some of it is deadly. There our law suits out this way concerning it being in gov. buidings with the employees getting sick.!!!

OFF TOPIC BUT IMPORTANT FOR CHAZZY

Have you had headaches,nausea,lethargy?

This is significant for carbon monoxide poisoning. You can buy a carbon monoxide detector fairly cheap I think. Being in an older home that is shut-up because of winter temps AND the fact that it was just worked on puts all the vent seams up from the work that was done at risk for leaks I think.

CO is odorless of course. It puts its victims to sleep from hypoxia from the inability for oxygen to attach to your red blood cells that carry it all around your body.

It's just so common in older homes.

You could easily test for mold and I will tell you how and where to get inexpensive equipment to do it. I think CO is the main suspect here though, if any.

PM me if you would like to discuss this further.

Re: Hostility
Thanks Lev, I'm still having a pretty bad time, just when I think I'm getting over it, it knocks me down again. It's been going on for several months now.
Since researching out the web on mold and health problems, I'm even more certain that I've found my problem. You are right, a mold/mildew problem can be wicked, even deadly. It's just way to expensive to test the stuff to find out what type I'm dealing with. My best bet is to just keep trying to kill the stuff till it no longers reappears.

Just buy petri dishes with agar. Open the petri dishes for a few minuets in any area you consider "hot". If there is mold in your home in significant amounts there will be spores in the air of that paticular mold at any given time. Mold spores will grow like a chia pet on steroids in agar. It will then be possible to identify the mold by morphology and general characteristics.

Re: Hostility
FYI,
Don't be too alarmed by what a few minuets exsposure to agar that your room air might grow. Just a few minuets and then seal the dishes with tape on two sides and do not put them in the fridge but rather some place at room temp.

Your local health dept should be able to direct you to a lab for analysis.

The wife has to deal with this stuff all the time. She uses bleach to kill it. It's about the only thing will except for certain fungacides, and there fumes are worse. You cant just paint over it or it comes right back !!! Good Luck.

Re: Hostility
You can only kill surface mold with bleach. The spores in the air will come in contact with your membranes(eyes, nose, mouth, throat) and the moisture will cause the spores to germinate.

Eliminate it from surfaces sure, but you have to get it filtered in your air system to be protected in your home.

I have two of those Sharper Image filter systems and I can tell when my air system has been running or the windows open because it signals when it needs cleaning.

I used to get so stuffed up that I had to use a nasal spray to sleep but not since using the filters for a few weeks.
