Tip for grillers..........
Do you have an outside grill where the cooking surface grates look like sh*t due to all that baked on barbecue sauce? Have you tried all that spray on crap that doesn't seem to loosen up that baked on sh*t enough so you can get them looking clean?
A trick I learned in "Nam is take the grates out and put them in your inside oven, set the oven on "clean" and a few hours later, after you wipe the petrified off with a towel, like magic you have grates that look like they did the first day you got the grill!
Th same goes for the grates from the inside gas stoves. They too will come out looking like they did when they were brand new!
Works every time!!

I can maybe see you not wanting to "wash off the flavorings" from the outside grill but the grates on the kitchen stove start to look pretty bad so.......

The only problem with getting the grill hot enough to burn off the sh*t on the grates, you'd have to leave the grill on high for quite a while with the lid closed and therefore, you will pretty much empty a standard size propane bottle very quickly. That would force you to take another trip to your local propane merchant for a refill.
Putting them into the kitchen oven will be more convenient.

Ok, first off... who the hell uses bbq sauce, anyhow? If you use a good marinade or a dry rub, you don't need sauce.

I agree with you moon... who needs all that processed crap on you meat anyway. It takes away from the natural flavours.
BTW, I make a wicked grilled or smoked salmon. lol
