When I think of a fantasy vacation, I don't think of the beaches, I think of a cabin in the northern woods.

I dont know why I live here, because I hate snow and cold. In my opinion, it should only snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. December 26th should go back to 75 degrees and sunshine and stay that way all year long.

Hey Moon, I've got some relatives who lived in the Cross Timbers part of Texas for a number of years who tell me that area briefly gets a bit of snow and cold some winters. Born and raised Midwesterners, they claimed they could wake up in the morning and without looking out the window, know that it had snowed in the night by the sound of wheels spinning in one inch of snow.

It was inevitable... the snow has finally arrived and is starting to stick. With any luck the snow in the city will be only slush by tomoroow morning like it does most years. We haven't had a white Christmas in a long time now.
When was the last time you experienced a white Christmas?

Hey, oak... did they also mention that we southerners canNOT drive on snow and ice? What would be a typical winter day for the north would be panic and chaos for us
FLP, I tried to send y'all some yesterday. It was in the mid 70's.... back in the lower 30's for a high today. 40 degree difference in one day!

Re: Snow
Freezing temps again today... lots of schools were closed or delayed for 2 hours. All the schools around us were delayed, not us. Had to warm the car up 15 minutes early to get the ice off. I know that's not a lot of time for you northerners... but we southerners are used to waiting till the last minute to start our cars to keep them from overheating!

Re: Snow
Here's a funny story. This morning it snowed about four inches of the fluffy white stuff. With the road crews that have been coming in from other states to aid us with the power outtages, a lot of them have never even seen snow let alone driven in it. They had, as of the this morning, about fifty or sixty trucks that were stranded in Boston alone. They had to get local Bostonians to drive their vehicles to the job sights and bus the workers to their jobs.
This morning while I was out delivering stuff, a guy in a GMC-Pick-up with all the trimmings was in front of me doing 15 mph. I thought,"What the heck is wrong with this guy" as he purposely zig-zaged his truck trying to avoid huge clumps of snow on route-one today. Each time he righted himself, the truck slid from one side to the other. It wasn't until I saw his, "Oklahoma" licence plate that I realized his nervously periled plight...

December 30: a third sunny, mild day here. The rain Friday and Saturday melted most of the snow except the bigger drifts and piles, which are now frozen solid ice, and will probably last until April. I'm sure there's more sucky weather coming, though.

That's part of global warming Ashkats
It's the same as Lake Effect. If it doesn't freeze it means more precip.
I personally don't believe in it but...
