Re: top 10 most irritating phrases of the English language
"Shouldn't of..", isn't that just a misspelling of "shouldn't 've"? Which is how "shouldn't have" usually comes out of my mouth in normal conversation.

Re: top 10 most irritating phrases of the English language
How about the word "literally" or "literally speaking" ? In the context that that "word" is commonly used, the proper word is "figuratively or figuratively speaking".

Re: top 10 most irritating phrases of the English language
The word "proactive" bugs me, and so does "impact" used as a verb. It seems that words and phrases invented and used by cool and fashionable people become accepted parts of the language, whether or not they are grammatically correct, but words/ phrases in coomon use, sometimes for many generations, never get accepted because the cool and fashionable dont use them.

Re: top 10 most irritating phrases of the English language
Yeah, it is odd...how and why some phrases and words "catch on" will others don't...
SWEET!!! Yeah, I've done my share of over using that one too, and I really gotta quit calling everyone "doode"...it's pretty easy to make a habit of something like that.

Re: top 10 most irritating phrases of the English language
i use "like" a lot...especially when i'm quoting someone else's conversation...she said, like, "umm this is stupid", then i said...like "yeah, that's right", "like let's change the subject..."
