All the time. Verbal communications is not one of my strong points. For some reason it happens a lot with my wife.

Re: Misunderstanding
I am a communicator by nature but sometimes I find myself in a position where people take me the wrong way. The complicated part about communicating with others is understanding they listen differently. If anything, I overcommunicate.

It happens allot, to all of us....online we only have the typed text, no tone of voice, no facial expression or body language to help us understand what another is trying to communicate, and the emoticons, I've seen them over used to the point where they don't stand out as an indicator of intent so much, and I've seen them abused, someone will make an obviously meanish comment, throw in a laughing yellow face at the end of the comment and then claim,"I was joking" when their malice is so very clear.
In person, it happens around this house sometimes, I have times when I'm so near "fall over" exhaustion, or having a bad day of pain, and even a simple well meaning comment mixed with a frowning stressed face of a person ditracted by pain can come off as grumpy or mad.

Not so much in verbal conversation, but in email, IMs, texts etc, yeah. Its happened to me alot. As I tend to be a bit of a smart ass, often times just writing something can have a totally different meaning without the benefit of voice inflection. And as much as I dislike the whole "LOL" family, I use it just to let the recipient know that Im joking.
For example, lets say some one IM's you a "roll your eyes" kind of joke and you respond with "youre such an idiot". They cant hear you and could be insulted. However, face to face, the same line could be said and in all probability, both parties would be laughing and no offense would be taken. I hope that makes sense.
(note to self: quit calling people idiots!)
