Re: Wills, Trusts
Anyone considering these estate planning devices should consult a lawyer. While it is possible to obtain do-it-yourself kits with fill-in forms, if documents are not executed properly, they may not be valid. State laws do vary, so a one-size-fits-all form downloaded from the net might not work for you.
A living will is a declaration to the world, and especially to one's family and one's healthcare providers that one does not want to be kept alive artificially. Living trusts can be used for a number of purposes, often as an estate planning device for avoiding probate or to minimize death taxes. Trusts are not cheap to set up, and there could be administrative costs later on. They are not for everyone. Again, it's agood idea to get professional advice. Shop around, legal advice on estate planning doesn't have to be expensive. And dont let anyone sell you anything you dont need.

Re: Wills, Trusts
Having said all that, most adults should have a Will(not the same as a Living Will), if only to appoint guardians for your minor children should both parents die. Wills can be very simple and need not be expensive.

Re: Wills, Trusts
As having a close and recent experience here(My brother)
Get your affairs in order please, don't leave your family wondering what your wishes are, they want to know what YOU want, and they want to carry out YOUR wishes...they don't want to guess and always wonder if they did the right thing or not.
Thankfully, someone close to my brother stepped up, held our hands and let us know exactly what my brother had talked about, and what he wanted.
