Message or Messenger? (Musical)
Here's question - What makes a song a hit, or a favorite, the actual song or the person who sings it? Like, what if Lynyrd Skynyrd had sung Stairway to Heaven and Zeppelin had done Freebird? Would they have become the anthems that they did?

For example, Frank Sinatra covered Yesterday. But if he were the first to release it, Im sure it would have flopped.

And it really doesnt have anything to do with who wrote it. Cat Stevens wrote The First Cut is The Deepest and it went largely unnoticed, Rod Stewart made it famous. Billy Joel wrote Shameless but it was Garth Brooks that put it on the map.

Anybody agree or do I just have Too Much Time on My Hands?

Dolly Parton and "I will always love you", yet Whitney comes along and has the biggest number one ever along with the bodyguard.
It maybe the way the individual artist makes the track their own?
Possibly, Possibly not. The arrangement changed to suit a wider market?

If Kansas recorded it, I think it would have been dust in the wind.

maybe the "wayward son" was chasing the "dust in the wind" to "the point of no return???"

Re: Message or Messenger? (Musical)
Some voices are just...angelic! Some are so strong, beautiful and clear, like Annie Lennox and Popa Chubby....I'll listen and enjoy anything they sing.

Other voices kinda grate on my nerves a bit, like Brittany, just a little too squeaky and nasaly for me, and Michael McDonald, his voice sounds strained....like it's just so much effort for him to sing.
