supergroups....
can you think of any music groups that were results of already established musicians getting together, and creating a new band? the Power Station comes to mind...Robert Palmer (r.i.p.) joins forces with the Taylors (of Duran Duran fame) and create a KICK ASS album....

Re: supergroups....
The Traveling Wilburys come to mind. How you define "established" might make a difference in some cases, since we've all heard "behind the music" type stories of various musicians playing with various bands way bck when.

Re: supergroups....
Keith Richards formed the Xpensive Winos in the late 80's when he and Mick weren't speaking. Hardly a supergroup. In fact, I couldnt even name a song that they did

Re: supergroups....
This is kinda in reverse, but the Yardbirds had Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page as lead guitarists. And we all know what happened to them after the demise of this supergroup.

Re: supergroups....
David Crosby of the Byrds, Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield, Graham Nash of The Hollies formed Crosby Stills and Nash, with the obvious later addition from Crazy Horse, Neil Young.
