What a Rip Off!
Have you ever in your life been ripped off? Was it the incorrect change given from a store, or the receipt from the grocery store, or on you monthly credit card statements, etc.?

Re: What a Rip Off!
yup...a car dealership repair shop. worked on my truck for 5 hours, ran multiple tests...unable to determine the problem, even replaced the computer (at $800) still didn't solve the problem (they put the old computer back in and didn't charge me for it)...however, they NEVER did fix the problem...never got a bill for it. (for any services at all) i figured that seeing that they didn't fix it, i wasn't going to be charged for anything. i sold the truck. about 6 months later, the dealership called me, to see if i wanted to have them try fixing it again, when they found out i'd sold the truck, i got billed for $500 for labor and services rendered. i thought about taking them to court, but i figured it wasn't worth missing work for $500 (and the guy i sold the truck too, he was 65 years old, and a small time local mechanic, HE figured out the problem in less than 24 hours )

So, what was the problem?
Truck repair shops are notorious for not doing the work they claim has been done or spending countless hours doing nothing then charging for it. That's why I do the majority of work on it myself. Truck parts places aren't any better.

I've found out the hard way to take my vehicles to the dealers. They have the software for that vehicle and therefore know what to look for and analyze that problem. I have yet to regret my decision.

It's not always that simple with a semi. A tow is a minimum of $500. That's why many get thier trucks "fixed" at truck stops or at a shop that isn't reputable. They aren't like cars that are easily moved. I do only buy parts at either Peterbilt of Caterpiller now. Those are the major manufacturers for this vehicle.

Re: What a Rip Off!
the problem was, i bought a Nissan. and didn't know a lot about them, and this dealership was supposed to be the BEST...all the top Nissan mechanics in the area worked there...supposedly. they problem was..the computer wouldn't show a "code one"...a self diagnosing mode...it turns out that the trucks previous owners cut in to one of the computers power wires to install a stereo or something...which caused a short...but the REAL problem was, a part of the transmission was bent....i don't remember the exact details, but...the problem was NOT related to the computer at all.......

Re: What a Rip Off!
Only figures. I've had a lot of problems with getting the truck diagnosed. After many years, I discovered that the fuel system still had fungus and other stuff in it. I'm thinkin' as a result of that, it plugged the fitting for the fuel return on the pump, resulting in excess fuel pressure. It wouldn't set a code, but caused it to run irratically. Much like the timming was acting up. I had that fitting replaced and bypassed the right side fuel heater to get rid of the coolant in the tanks. Runs really good now.
