Re: Cable or dish
One channel I seldom see now is NASA channel. When cable was fairly new many locations had this and was interesting to watch during a mission.

Re: Cable or dish
We just turned off our Digital Cable service. Overall the picture quality sucked. We too had Dish 500 a few years back and other then a bit of signal loss during bad weather it was far superior quality. I think we did have more sports channels with our cable package and it did have our local channels included - it was extra for Dish at the time we had it, but oddly the local channels had the worst reception. Anyway till $ gets better in Cleveland it's back to broadcast tv for now.

Re: Cable or dish
Isn't cable just an extention cord for a satellite?

Re: Cable or dish
I have cable, and they just recently added the "on demand" feature. That I love, so I can add all kinds of things to my day - laughter, tears etc just when I want to.

Re: Cable or dish
I misunderstood too, I thought the question was about which service was preferred. But there is one thing that really fries my onions about "cable" channels, (meaning anything other than ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the like)is the volume change on commercials. TBS and Nickelodeon arent so bad, but The History Channels, Discovery, Biography, A&E etc all seem to blast you right out of the room when a commercial comes on. And when one of those commercials features anything that Billy Mays is hawking these days, you'd better grab the remote pretty quick and turn it down or else you'll be replacing your windows!
