Re: Lifestyles and Fads
I had my "earth shoes" back in the '70's.
They f*ckin' sucked!!
In the late '60's I had my bell bottom corduroys.
I wore them pretty tight then. But I thought I looked freakin' cool!! Silly, huh?

VB, do you remember that corduroy pants could be worn to places and on occaisions where blue jeans were'nt socially acceptable? This always mystified me as my cords were cut just like jeans and even had rivets in them.

Re: Lifestyles and Fads
I had my crushed velvet, purple colored, pants. They had a very large bell on the bottom and sat very low on the hips with a snug fit to the knees. Wore a silk shirt, open at the chest and the sleeves were the big fluffy kind with a tight 3 button cuff. Don't forget the necklace. That was in the mid 70's disco era. OMG we were sooooooo cool then.

Re: Lifestyles and Fads
This is really kind of painful to remember, but I had a pair of pants, striped white, maroon, and dark blue, one inch vertical stripes, flair legs. I wore that abomination with a maroon 2 button jacket, and a pair of the ugliest wide-round-toe, 1-inch-chunk-heeled, tan-suede-and-dark-blue-patent-leather two-tone shoes. A mid-70's nightmare.

Re: Lifestyles and Fads
Speaking of almost breaking your neck, those Dr. Scholl's wooden sandals, the kind with the leather buckled strap hugging the toe area? WELL, one of my sandals had split in two, as I was trying to walk down a flight of concrete steps (I didn't want to go bare foot)... let's just say when I tumbled down the 20 steps, all I was injured with was a dislocated elbow, but I popped that baby right back into place (that was painful!)

Re: Lifestyles and Fads
Contributing a post to the "One song several artists" thread has reminded me of the poster my college roommate had of Linda Ronstadt back in the 70's. She was shown on a dark beach wearing some kind of top through which you could see Miss Ronstadt's small perky breasts and erect nipples. I liked this image alot more than the Farrah Fawcett posters that some of my buddies had. Now Linda Ronstadt is no longer a petite young thing, but a plump middle-aged woman. Sigh. I think she is still attractive, but in a different way. Ann Wilson of Heart, another 70's rock goddess, has also developed into a matronly mature woman . Still find her attractive too. Time, time.

Re: Lifestyles and Fads
Okay JC, that's fine with the Voot Voot noise, long as there wasn't any Toot Toot noises exiting the posterior of them! ... was there? Then you'd have your one man band going there.
