The physically changing humans
I know that 100 years ago, people were shorter, just skimming some online reading, men now are about 4 inches taller and over 40 pounds heavier.
Like I said, my reading right now, is just skimming, but it seems that I'm getting the impression that humans are "evolving" rapidly into larger people that live much longer.
Although the extra weight and changes in diet seem to indicate we are less healthy, and allot of conditions that shorten our lives are associated with bad habits, diets, less physical labor and exercise.
I dunno...just thinking "outloud" really here.
Our shorter thinner ancestors died younger, the medical field advancement and research I"m sure explains the our longer life expectancy...but why are we so much taller, I'm wondering?....will this huskier, taller trend continue on even more?
Hey, like I said, just thinkin' outloud, skimming some sites, reading and wondering about stuff...

Re: The physically changing humans
I think the taller size of us is probably due to generally better health and diet during the growing years, I douby we're evolving at all as humans, as that would require tall people to be more successful at breeding than shorter people, which doesn't appear to be the case.
Mind you, I'm 6'1" and taller thn both my parents, and I don't know many other people who didn't outgrow their parents...

Ever notice how people feel the need to squeeze that extra 1/2" in?

Re: The physically changing humans
I have noticed the kids at school seem to be getting taller, most year 11 boys are 6ft +
If we are all getting taller, what the hell happened to me!!! I'm only 5ft 5

Re: The physically changing humans
I really haven't had the chance to do any more reading on this, but I kinda like the spontaneous thoughts on it, really..
I would imagine that bette prenatal care has something to do with it all, and the fact that over the past decades, women know better than to smoke cigs while pregnant, cuz that caused allot of underweight, smaller babies.
My Dad's side are kinda tall, my mother's short, I'm short.
But from what I've read, my dads 1800's ancestors were most likely 3 to 4 inches shorter than him.

Well if I only have 1/2" I'd still want to squeeze it in as often as possible
