Re: Hurricanes
Yea, Ma was hoping to get a truck of supplies out of that area before they evacuated. But she was too late. They are thinking that they can get her a truck out by early next week.
Hope that down there stay safe.

Re: Hurricanes
On tv this morning, they said Ike was 500 miles across. That's the equivelant of driving drom watertown,sd to minneapolis,mn and returning. Plus some.
Hope everyone there is ok. Hope my brother was smart enough to leave this time.

Re: Hurricanes
Waves in excess of 20' high expected! People have been coming up through here to get to D/FW. Lots of people are taking this very serious, as they should. Possibly a category 3 by the time it makes landfall early Saturday morning. It's gonna push up and give us some hellacious storms over the weekend (50-60 mph wind gusts). Enough to take down a few more trees around here
I hope everyone got out safe and the ones that didn't, hunker down!

Re: Hurricanes
Forecasters warn that because of Ike's size and the shallow Texas coastal waters, it could produce waves of perhaps 50 feet. It could also dump 10 inches or more of rain.
In the face of that, I'd be hitting the road and fast.

Re: Hurricanes
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Isn't there enough sorrow, pain and tragedy in this world people encounter on a daily basis, never let alone having these natural disasters?
