.....and don't call me Shirley!
Did anyone happen to catch the Today show yesterday morning? Included was a reunion segment with the stars of the cult film "Airplane". They included Peter Graves and Leslie Nielsen. They go on to tell how they chose to appear in that film by shedding their former on screen personas as former heavily drama oriented actors to taking a shot at comedic acting. They said that at the time the movie was in production, they were not sure how they would be accepted.
With all the years that have passed since the movie was released, it has become a cult favorite and the actors said they are constantly being recognized in public and reminded of lines that were in the movie. Lines such as ...." and don't call me Shirley" or "Bobby, have you ever been to a Turkish prison"?
Do any of you have fond memories of the first time you saw that movie and maybe some lines form that movie that come to mind?

Captain, we have to get this man to a hospital.
A hospital? What is it?
Its a large building with patients, but thats not important now.
(paraphrasing)
Captain, Major Hamm is on the line for you.
But Im on the other line with the Mayo Clinic.
He says its urgent, Sir.
Ok, give me Hamm on five and hold the Mayo.
Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.
What a great movie! Now I'll havve to watch it again!

It is a great movie with great slap stick comedy lines. I definitely liked the auto-pilot feature.

All I remember is, I was sitting in the movie theater on my first, real serious date, don't recall anything else about the movie 'Airplane'!
