Book reviews?
I've noticed quite a few members mentioning their love of reading and thought it might be helpful and interesting for others to hear about the type of books, favorite authors, and opinions, reviews and recomendatons of books.
Not only will we gain information to aid us when looking for something to read, I'm sure we will also learn a little about each other as well.
I personally prefer non-fiction, biographies
philosophy and history references for my reading. However, I have grown to appreciate any work by William Faulkner....

Re: Book reviews?
William Shakespeare: The Taming of the Shrew - Comedy - The prose is a bit stilted and formal, but the story is hilarious and the heroine is named Katherine or Kate, which of course makes this story very cool.

Re: Book reviews?
I prefer fiction myself. I get enough of real life sometimes just need to get away. I like V.C. Andrews books, nicley written erotica like Ann Rice's, Steven King, Edgar Allan Poe, D&D books and almost anything about ancient Egypt. I like a wide variety.

Re: Book reviews?
hmmm, I'll take a guess at it...probably won't get it right, but oh well...lol
Maybe Freud, Socrates or Hippocrates (the guy who wrote the Hippocratic oath, I hope I got the name right, lol)
As for my own taste in books, it's very wide, sci fi and fantasy, adventure, and of course I'm a bodice ripper, lol, like, Stephen King, Clive Cussler (Warren got me started on him) Jude Deveaux, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and David Eddings are some of my faves, but I don't just stick to those...some day, I'll post a pic of our bookshelf, lol.

Re: Book reviews?
Green Eggs and Ham -- Dr. Seuss
I read this book with great expectation. I happen to like eggs and ham, but the idea of green eggs and ham was a little offensive to me. I tried to keep an open mind as I read this allegorical poem. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was about contempt prior to investigation rather than about the taste of ham and eggs.
Another Kbateman Book Review.

With your words I do agree !!

or on the grass

Dr. Suess's work does revolve around the utopian ideas of a world where all prejudice can be quickly conquered (usually by an adorable mutant child with a funky hairdo) I do find, however that his strong push for conformity and his message of acceptance for individuality a little
conflicting at times.

Re: Book reviews?
My books are mostly medical reference and science texts. When I read between semesters it's usually emergency/combat medicine or something to do with bodybuilding. When I'm burned out and just need some downtime I'll buy something totaly frivolus like FHM or Maxim magazines.

your right Pepper,Hypocrites, not sure if Ive spelled it right either. A doctor at a health seminar said that Hypocrites wrote that in 430BC. Your book shelf sounds very interesting as well as your health program ( judging from your photos), "healthy body/healthy mind" doesn't seem too far fetched.

If you dont have one, what's the point in having the other? The body, no matter what we do, will eventually go, that's just life, but I mean to keep both in as good a shape as possible for as long as possible!!!!!
I love to read and my bookshelf, including both Warrren's and my books totals probably between 4 and 500 books.

Re: Book reviews?
Well, we could start a "Dr. Suess" forum game thread, where everyone would have to contribute several lines in Dr. Suess form,
