What would it be?
If there's one disability that scares ya, what is it.
For me it'd be going blind. I've always been a very visual person. That and it'd helps with the occupation too.--hehe

Re: What would it be?
Oh I hate my weak eyes, I get so tired of it, at the insistence of my family, I'm finally going to check into surgery for them, I have to first see if I am a lasik candidate, and I put it off, it's just that I really fear something going wrong and losing what I have left in my vision.
Losing my hearing would be the next top choice, but...ya know...there are plenty of quadriplegics that have lost all feeling pretty much everywhere, so I guess being blind or deaf is not really that bad.

Re: What would it be?
BTW...we did have a very nice blind young gentleman here, (I just tried to look him up, either I'm mispelling his username or he has recently left) he managed here and online quite well, and was always a joy to talk to, he did post in the forums too.
A recent one in introductions is deaf, and have met several quads here over the years too, as well as in the real world, the determined spirit of all of them to carry on "normal" lives is always uplifting.

Be careful about who you choose for the lazik. I was told by one member here [not here for a very long time] that his eyes got worse after. He claimed the surgeon was the same one that did Tiger Woods eyes.

Re: What would it be?
A few in my family have had it done, with great results, and although the odds of things going bad are low, there are still those odds and that does scare the crap outta me.
With my astigmatism and possible cornea damage, I may not even be a candidate, but I will for sure, research the crap out of any doctor that would do anything surgical on my eyes.

Re: What would it be?
Anyone that has any form/s of disabilities and what they have to deal with on a daily basis, is and can be horrendous, never let alone being accepted by society.

Re: What would it be?
I think that people with disabilities don't feel in any way that their daily life is horrendous, they seem to embrace any daily challenge and are quite capable, even more so....than us "normal" folk.
Suddenly losing any part of you, a limb, sight, hearing, of course there will be a long time of phases of adjustment, but most I've known, adjust more than well enough and appreciate not being treated any differently than anyone else.

Re: What would it be?
Well i have one so i think for me i could cope with most but not being able to see my sweet Children's face and grandchildren s face. would be the worse for me.When i was young was in two car accidents .the last one afterwards i was told that i would never walk again.Well i defeated the doctors one year and half later. It was a painful tough road but i did it but in doing that i was left with slight Cp so i know how tuff disabilities can be.I cannot walk perfect but i am alive and that is all that matters to me .

Re: What would it be?
Guess i dont have much of a choice being i've lost half of one already. So... i'd have to go ahead and say i'd rather lose my hearing than my eyesight. Thats if i had my choice. I know what deaf people can do to make it in life being i've seen it and lived it firsthand. But being I didnt have a choice in what I lost, if not, i would like to hear everything and not miss out on half of the things and have somewhat of a so called 'normal' life.

Re: What would it be?
I think I would be so scared to lose my sight. As a nurse it would change my profession, my mothering, everything about me.
